@ Fla, Freedom Factory , Chevy II Curious and hope they comment on What the data log said, Never seen a block break this way
I reckon with some judicious use of Chem-Weld, that can be rebuilt, and then sold on FaceBook, where all the great deals live Bonus selling line "Was working when last used"
By golly, you sure wrecked that one! That motor is differently dead! Good job! When I owned the dirt track car, I told the drivers that I wasn't pulling a running motor out of the car (we ran used motors, not enough money to fix one). If you want a different motor, blow up the one that is in there! That was when you found out how hard the motor would actually run, or you found out it was nearly dead.
I saw a 400 big block Mopar blow apart like that thirty years ago except it was worse. One side had only the deck surface holding the head on it, it broke across the block through the cam with the other side having more of the top of the cylinders and outside of the block but not much. Back in the early nineties Mopar was trying to promote there low deck big blocks in circle track racing and a buddy of mine was given boxes of Hemi cranks, rods and bearings to see what he could do with them. After that engine blew up he went back to his sbc combos and sold me some parts.
Is it wrong that I've always wanted to proper grenade an engine like that? Call it a bucket list item as you'd need a bucket to clear it all up.
That'll buff right out! Reminds me of a VW buss we bought to haul our young family around in back in the 70s. Ran ok for a month or two when the engine stopped dead. We were dirt poor and I figured out, 'how hard can it be to rebuild a VW engine?" When I split the case I found a previous owner had blown the engine and had rebuilt the cam towers using Plastic Steel epoxy. Amazing the engine lasted as long as it did with that fix!!
I saw one once where someone was short a lifter and made one out of hardwood. Surprisingly enough, it lasted quite awhile, although the rocker arm eventually galled from oil starvation.
I’ve split late model 5.0’s in half spraying the house down but they were bored and stroked out to the limits. Even ****tered one that had the girdles in, but never shot the entire crank/bottom end out of one
Looks like boring the snot out of it then sleeving all eight cylinders may have reduced the block's structural integrity just a bit...
You haven't lived until you've witnessed your first dyno pull on your own engine! The raised hair on your back is proportionate to the money you have invested. Been there!
Not mine , These racer's have DEEP pockets of $$$$$, These's are just there Pi$$ away $$$ Engines , I am sure it was a Brodix or Dart ,not production & 2,400 -2,800 Dry block but not Billet , not even dry sump , 43k 1/8 race , 660 to 1320 on virgin asphalt water burn out No glue , AWD vs. RWD Shootout Testing!
