We could have made it easier for Jim though. The GM Holden utility vehicles in the 70's and 80's (HQ-WB models) offered a full ch***is trayback option (referred to locally as a "one tonner ute"). Would have been a lot less sawzall work.

If I could find one here, it would probably cost a heck of a lot more than the $500 I paid for my 4 door!

but that's a neat looking truck.

Got the OSB screwed down, it has a hatch for a spare tire (if it'll fit in there?). Painted it with some rustoleum, needs another coat, to try to make it slightly water resistant and not so many splinters.

 

You would need to make it a roadster…

 

The flip side of that coin is that I share the road with vehicles that never have any form of inspection.

That model might be just after they stopped the decals (I think), but truly deserves a Screaming Chicken on the hood

I'm not planning to paint it, but I might put some clear finish on the wood to make it last a little longer....we'll see.

 

Couple small vents on the wood side to let flatulence odors out at speed ?

Fit and finish looks great- 1974 5window panel truck- one of one.

 

Got the bed done, need to make fenders, wire the lights, and hinge the access doors.

yeah, I screwed up that way...oh well.

Went for a drive tonight, it is a lot quieter without the back doors/windows rattling all the time.

 

When you get to applying the clear coat, add some grey and some brown stain to the clear...it will make the wood look a little more "aged".

 

That is looking great, now some metal or thick schedule PVC pipe as hoops and some corrugated sheet metal as a rolling Quonset hut, even green corrugated fibergl*** would look cool as well !

This is starting to remind me of the Wacky Races. A slightly more modern and region-specific take on the Arkansas Chuggabug .

About 15 years ago I had bought a 91 Dodge van for pennies because some thieves drove a screwdriver through the fuel tank to steal the gas out of it When it was parked at a commercial semi truck shop anyways long story short my buddy didn't have any way to fix it so he sold it to me for nothing and I didn't have a good way to move it so I bought JB putty weld and put it across the hole after I cleaned the hole with a wire brush That van had that patch there for 3 years when I sold it to my friend who drove it for another year or two and then he sold it to some guys that I was unfamiliar with but they were YouTube famous and they beat the snot out of that van and as far as I know it still has the JB weld patch.
That patch is what you call a permanent fix lol

 

Jim, if you could source a 2dr front seat cheap, might save a step. But yeah, hinges are pretty cheap so.... lookin' good!

 

What no slider window in the back of the cab? At least you can attach a nice gun rack to the wooden back wall of the cab !

 

How about a fold-down table on one side and a small wooden water barrel? And some wood spoked hubcaps? Door skin to fab the rear fenders (easy to curve) although you'll probably have to laminate it to get enough strength so they don't fly off. Some cheap latex stain, but do the whole car for that 'correct' patina...
