What OT crap are you working on

Thanks Billy its not bad , I modified the **** outa the outer brackets.. The rear bumper was a pain because like a dumb*** I didn't mock it up before paint like I did the front....repro quarter panels , repro bumper with factory brackets didn't want to play together

 

Hah! Did the same thing. Rear bumper wasn’t even close. I got the right side bolted in, the left was over an inch off (down). I had the Camaro on the lift, put a Jack stand under it and a2x4 to protect the chrome and let the car down on the Jack supporting the bumper. Chinese **** bent pretty easy, slid the bolts in and pitied the guy that takes it apart someday.

 

It turned out to be a nice Camaro. This was taken before I put the subframe and running gear back in.

 

Is that a little blue dune buggy in the background? If so you got a picture.

 

In today's adventure more detailing the engine compartment not too bad for rattle can I still got a long ways to go The more I get into this the more I'm shaking my head at why things were done the way they were... I knew the truck had an exhaust leak I figured since I was in there and the fenders were off it would be easier to reach it when I pulled the exhaust manifold off there's no gaskets on either side somehow the driver side was not leaking, I had the gaskets for some reason only for one side I installed the side I had and ordered more... When I crawled underneath it to loosen the manifold to pipe bolts not only were they through bolts making me cuss trying to get a wrench on the upper side but on my way under the car crawling on the ground I noticed that the transmission crossmember on the p***enger side has no bolts in it only the driver's side and the transmission itself I have no idea why I guess that will be my next job. Anyways here is my little bit of progress so far I still got a long ways to go but it's starting to look better than when I first brought it home a few months ago.

 

The misery continues

 

One item I bought at the swap meet last Thursday was a new handle for my “Oldsmobile hammer”. It was in the olds when I bought it and it was used extensively to dis***emble the car. I Nicknamed it Oldsnir after Thor’s hammer.


The handle was juiced and the head was ready to fly off. I spent a dollar on a new handle and spent a couple days playing in the shop.

I polished the hammer head and did some free hand dremel work. The Viking runes on top are for courage and strength, two things needed to swing this thing.

I engine turned the bottom while the handle was out. Fitted the new handle, wrapped it in leather, made a polished end cap and a braided leather strap so I can sling it at people I don’t like.

I engraved its new name Oldsnir (Thor called his Mjolnir), I used vintage Oldsmobile script.

I hope Odin is pleased.

A ramp for my Folks back porch. I’m using aluminum decking for a hog confinement floor . About 50 years ago a neighbor brought stuff to build a feeding floor but never did build it . So I talked with his son about the flooring and he let me get enough for the ramp

 

Making progress on the camaro, dash wiring mostly done , factory tach seems to work well with msd tach adapter. Picked the 4 best caps I had and bought some wheel vintiques trim rings, I think they really make it pop

 

Getting closer to drilling holes and bolting things together

 

Moved the Camaro outside for the first time under power. The rear should come down a bit when interior gets installed.

My daily. The hitch and stinger stay pretty much in place on the bed rug but if you hit the brakes or turn hard it can be a hazard. I built this out of some s**** steel I had.
No welding, just cut, grind, drill and use the acetylene torch to make the bends. Also drilled and taped some 3/8th 16 threads in the side.

My truck has tire downs added to the bed sides rates at 500 pounds, I used one them to mount the cradle I built.

this is the hitch now mounted in the bed. My electric bed cover keeps it from being nicked. One less thing.

 

Still slowly moving along on the 66 Chevelle 2dr Nomad conversion. Body got painted, started putting some of the body trim on and today put the new wheels on.

Greg, thanks. I bought the wagon on one of my visits to see family in Michigan back around 2012. Drove it to our son's home in Holly and later had it shipped to my home in NY. It has been a slow work in process since then.

 

Had some rotation move through home Thursday night . The north end of the old hay barn was ****tered South through the cattle lots. The Folks house and mine are ok . No one was hurt . I’ve had plenty of help cleaning up . Lots of tree damage . Now I need to figure out what to do with the stuff I had stored in there . The remaining section of barn will probably be torn down. It’s not in good shape. I still haven’t gotten Dads ramp done yet

 

OUCH !

 

Happy that the houses and everyone is OK, the other stuff is a definite inconvenience but can be repaired or replaced!

 

raymay what can you tell us about the extended cab pickup in the background?

Okie Pete, I designed and built the 37 Chevy Kingcab in the 90's. Stretched the cab 18", with suicide doors and mounted it on an S-10 ch***is. The bed was new metal shaped to fit. I even included a storage compartment under the bed before Honda Ridgeline introduced the same option in their trucks. The bed cover was made from a new suburban roof panel I got when a Chevy dealer went out of business. Small block Chevy. Lots of road miles over the years including trips to Michigan for the Woodward Dream Cruise. I have to admit that it was one of the nicest handling road trip vehicles I have had. Never took the time to get it out of primer. Even our Grandkids got to ride in it. Sold it in 2010 when I bought back our chopped 37 Chevy sedan and was working to finish my 56 Chevy ElCamino conversion. Our Son who lives in Michigan ended up buying it back years later and is the current owner and yes, it is still in primer.

Ha, I've painted tractors, trailers, trash cans and trucks with a paint brush. It's actually very satisfying. This weekend I am painting a ranch truck, beat 1974 3/4 pickup with a paint brush and tractor paint. Pressure wash first !
