I don't know why, but I love hot rods without headlights surrounding an original (or nearly original) grille. Especially those with a 32 shell, but not only.

Maybe it's for that look, straddling the line between road and track use?

You too? Let's share some pictures! Of course, feel free to post pictures of your own car.

Here are a few I like. The pics come from HAMB or elsewhere on the internet. Thanks to the photographers and/or those who posted them. You make my day!

    Thanks for all the contributions!
From my point of view, this thread should focus on hot rods without headlights flanking a stock or slightly modified grill, but if you prefer a track nose or no grille at all, that's ok!

As for me, I will stick to my initial preference with these pics :)

It's only a matter of time before someone mentions the Esders Bugatti Type 41, so it might as well be me.

In the 50s n 60s,we did not use headlights on most drag race cars,an often removed them any time we raced,if car was also our ride home , then replaced for ride home. Headlights were extra aero load/air drag , n more lbs. to use up HP moving car.=Only slowed racing times down. It was never a thing/style for street driving. Exception would be rarely not putting headlights back in place for ride home { if race track was close to home } . In a few case, even door side rear view mirrors were temp removed for,thinking/hoping for a speed gain.
. Some had wiring made with a plug set -up for EZ,remove n replace..
If I see a hotrod driving on the street with no headlights=looks as fake as dose a Moon tank on a hotrod in every day tracffic. Moon tanks were use for race fuel at the drag strip, for safety, not over flow or any other style BS.
Just try not to fall in love with something seen in a old or even new photo, with out finding out what n why it is in photo. Plus remember a photo is only a second in time, when it was taken.
Things may of looked another way in a hour or more!;):D:cool:
