Technical 37 Chev Coupe garnish screw size?

Looking for screw size to hold my QUARTER window moldings in. I bought the car w/o the quarter window moldings and found a pair. I need to know what size screws I need to install them.
I know it's not brain surgery but I want the correct size screws.

Doesn't seem likely it would be stainless steel-and maybe slotted, not Phillips, too.

 

They are number 6 with number 8 head as best as I can recall . Tough to locate at a hardware store

 

Be very careful with length. They will screw right through the outer body. don't ask me how I know that. Yup it involves a freshly painted body.

Not sure what they originally were, but I used #8x1.25" phillips oval head for mine that worked.

 

@wheelguy , if you determine what size and quan***y you need LMK, I might have them and if so I’ll send them out to you.

 

Mine had too-long screws installed and the frame had little "reverse centre punch" marks where the points finished. I couldn't find anything close and ended up cutting the too-long but correct gauge screws down shorter.

 

Stainless Phillips Heads crews at home Depot. Maybe 1 inch # 8. I used them on my 51 convertible for the garnish moldings. They're not expensive and won't tarnish or age.

 

I purchased a complete interior set of OEM style screws for my 46 Olds sedanette from Chevs of the 40s; door locks & pillar, garnish moldings etc etc. Multiple individual sets with correct domed heads /lengths with either phillips or slot heads. Just being pedantic!

 

Ace Hardware has similar screws in stainless steel. Maybe not every store, but worth a look.
