To all of my hamb followers. Thanks for the kind words. I have a great team and support group. Plans are already in place to get it to Norwalk memorial day weekend. I have about five weeks. Looks like the cause was Bruno related. I will get a better look soon. I have to fix me first. We set a goal of a season championship. This setback does not change that. It's a long season. We are in first place in the standings

 

I asked the flatbed driver to bring the car to the winners circle for photos. They presented the trophy along with a custom cowboy belt buckle and pin.
The check is on the shop wall. I will wear the buckle to the banquet. We will build back stronger; faster; safer.

Brian - it was so great to see you and talk to you again back in Texas!! So damn sorry things went sideways, the car, the Team, the trailer, heck the whole operation looked ready and loaded for bear - and you proved it!! Great win!

Hate to see this happen but as expected you already have the recovery plan in place. Brian and team there's zero doubts you will be back stronger in compe***ion. Thumbs up and hats off to that spirit of yours. Let the proper healing happen!

 

As one of the team members there thrashing with Brian and the rest of the crew the best moment of the weekend was watching Brian climbing out of the car and for the most part ok he does have some burns but they really didnt appear till the next day he looked good until we got up the next day then it showed up so we all worked diligently to pack everything up and get on the way home then he went to get checked out yes we won and Brian definitely did it in the most glorious fashion that’s for sure lol definitely not the way we wanted to win but the whole crew was on point all weekend and worked our ****s off to make it all happen I’ll let Brian give the whole play by play once he is up to it I will says this wasn’t an easy win by any means not just because of the ending but the struggle was real from the get go I want to thank Brian for allowing me the privilege to be spinning wrenches with him and learning first hand what it actually takes to make a nitro car operate

 

As you all know I have to get it fixed. I have five weeks. First I need to take care of the burns.
My people stopped by tonight.
I got the car back on the lift. The left lower frame rail has a slight bow. That's a easy fix with some heat and a porta power. It won't take but a hour.
A plan was made to attack the body. The seat and door will be removed. The roll cage will be used to pull and push the metal. When that's done we will fit the door.
While it was in the air we found the Bruno pan had completely separated at the weld. This would cause two gallons of oil to go under the tires the catch fire. The cause for the failure is yet to be determined.

 

So did you get upside down? The roof?

 

If that open seam on the pan was a weld, it doesn't even look like one. There was no penetration.

 

You've worked your **** off making that Bruno work. Could there be a clutch in your future?

 

Is the pan of a Bruno transmission pressurized?

Got great news at the burn center. No grafs needed. The open wounds will heal up over two weeks. The swelling should come down soon.
So my followers you know how this goes. The front end is off. The frame will get straightened to day. My crew guys are showing up staying at my house until it's done. Like I said pull the belts tight it's on.

Not to be derogatory but why all the hate on FB?

 

I saw a whole lot of care, concern, support, and kudos on FB. But there will always be somebody negative.

 

That Bruno pan failure is weird, wonder if that corner fitting was the start of the split?

**** Brian, not good news. Hope the burns ease up soon. They are a nasty pain, worse than a cut or heavy bruise.

I think the pan failed when the fluid exploded. Not one drop drained out. The front end is off. The Bruno Lenco is out. A new fire suit is needed. A blower bag was ordered.
My crew guys from out of town have offered to come to my place to help as long as the are needed. We're a tight team. We have a plan in place. I have the right guys on the jobs that need to be done. We have a few weeks.
As far as the haters on FB they are on teams I have beat. They are **** hurt that their dragsters; funny cars and altereds have been beat three in a row by a street car. Maybe Walgreens has a cream that will help them. I won't engage them and I instructed my crew and friends to do the same. Nitro Chaos doesn't need the drama. It reflects badly on sponsors. If they want to be men about it come see me in my pit spot. I'm taking the higher road.

 

Looks like the converter got cooked...was that before or after the pan leak? Could be the cause?

I "like" what you are saying, but can't "like" what I'm seeing. You obviously have the right men for the job, to handle what needs to be done. As long as the ring leader is healed up to 100%, the show WILL go on! My thoughts and well wishes are with you and your team.

 

To paraphrase an old line, @racer-x heal thy self, that’s step one, step two is getting your car back together, step three, get a pig in the ground and some beer on ice cause all your rowdy friends are coming over tonight. Hehe

No. It was pushed over.

 

Squirrel I don't think we will ever know the cause. Does the converter look this way due to the fire or from eating itself up going down track. My buddy has the exact same converter I can buy from him.. I will send this one out to be serviced.
