Shortest short bus ever? It’s got to be close

To use non bus fenders the circled area will have to be modified to bolt to the bus cowl


the arrow area needs to be stretched some to better fit the bus. The line in front will also need stretched
The front of the fender will probably be modified to fit the larger c60 grill surround.
A rear fender patch panel could be modified to drop the fender to fit the bottom of the bus.
We are considering a lower wedge cut of the ****on of the bus to give it an agressive roof rake and get the bumper level with the bottom of the bus.
The fenders on this one was stretched downward to get them level with the bottom of the bus. Plus the bumper was lowered to match.

 

The wheel measurement indicated we can achieve a 5-6 inch rear ride height and fit a 29/30 inch tall tire. With that size an adequate inner wheel well could be hidden under a 16/17 inch tall bench seat in the rear of the bus.
And have adequate suspension travel.
Both bench seats facing each other with room to fit 5 p***engers. 2 on the drivers side plus the driver. 3 on the other.

What is wrong with the bus front fenders? They look quite distinctive.

 

Too fat plus they are shot.
The have a set in much better shape with the smaller flare.
I wanting a different look than my other bus with the large truck fenders.

 

Different is usually good.

I’ve considered adding a thinned c40-60 flare to the c10 fenders.
Ive got a good set of c40 fenders that have a narrower flare than what was on the bus.
The flare was wider than the bus. Kinda looked wrong on this short bus

Just a question, instead of modfying the C-10 fenders and all the lengthening and extending, why not just cut the current bus fender flares off and weld in C-10 fender lips? I think same basic end result, but less overall work?

 

We’re gonna look at that as well.
Basically swapping over the wheel opening.
The current ones are trash and I have a better set of c10 ones.
Stretching the fenders downward isn’t a lot of work.
Non of that happens until the bus is on a ch***is anyway.

I’ve got this square body ch***is. Don’t like the dip. Messes up the drop a lot.
Could cut just before it rises up close to that tank mount. Then stub the rest.
Think I’ll grab this. No dip under the cab. same rise for the front crossmember. Possibley a tad more.

use the single wheel spindles from the square body ch***is.
Those trailing arms could come in handy.
The bus body stops close to 10 inches from the top of the frame. Won’t take a lot to drop that.

This sort of looks like what the original project was coping, until the builder ran out of time, experience, money, or any combination of the three of them.

 

I think the spindles are the same. Offset is built into the hub. So no swap needed unless you want drop spindles.

 

Thanks. I’ll figure that out. This ch***is is a c20 that’s been converted to dually.
Biggest difference between the 2 I’ve seen is frame height. C10/20 are around 6 inches tall. C30 is around 8.

 

The c20 and c30 rotors did swap out on the same spindle.

Mock up for the students to figure out the wheelbase.
They will weld a temporary rear setup to make it roll.
They are removing the cab mounts on the new frame and will use the front cab mounts from a 62 frame.
