I got a 327 I believe and am trying to figure out exactly what the thing is. The number on the front pad by water pump is TOII9HCH. I cant seem to find anything that matches this info. It has the double hump heads and a cast iron square bore gm intake. Any info on the intake would be nice to as I havent run into one like this before. It has a holley style bolt pattern. Anyhow any help is much appreciated, greezy

Anything before '69 should have a two letter code instead of three. CH shows up as being a 283, and HC is a 327.

The best I can figure, it is from the Tonawanda plant, made on January 19th, but I cannot find an HCH code, there are 2 different HC codes in my source list, one is a 1965 327 4 barrel, 275 horse. The other is a 1969 350 2 barrel, 250 horse. Here is a link to where I got my info.

That's what I was thinking too. Check the Mortec site to be sure. Also the 275 wouldn't have a Holley bolt pattern. Whatis the cast number of the intake? You should be able to tell date by the codes on the Block, intake, and heads.

I cant verify this for sure but I have a 327 with a T0620HQH stamping and have been told that the last H was put on Holley equipped engines.

HC was used on PG equipped 327s from 65-68, and they don't seem to all have been 275 hp either

I had it figured as this T= tonowanda plant 01-19for day of manufacture and hch should tell me what it is, what it was mated to and car right? There is a couple of problems though. First being that it is not 01-19, it is a definate oi(eye)- i (eye)9. They are definatly not ones they are letter I's. Next being that the hch hasnt come up anywhere for me. I seen the hc's and ch's but not hch. What about the last h being for a holley equipped motor? Anyone know anything else about that? All the h codes I have seen have only been two letters not three so that might make sense. I'll get the intake numbers tomorrow. I know it could have come from anywhere but if it helps narrow things down it may be worth it. Thanks for the help

It was not uncommon for I to be used in place of 1 on engine stamps due to a broken or lost die. get the casting numbers from the block and heads

That is what my casting number looks like. The numbers seem to be roughed up a bit but thats my guess on them. Still trying to remember to get the date and intake numbers. Thanks for the help though guys.
