I am on a hopeless quest for finding parts to or a complete set for a one year only item. The Autronic Eye system for a 1956 only Lincoln or Continental. Mainly the control box and the Eye itself. If anyone has parts or a system that wants to part with it, please contact me. Thanks
"Autronic eye" seems to be a Guide product name, used by GM. What did FoMoCo actually call their product? Or did they utilize the GM Guide product? Some info here: https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum...autronic-eye-guide-matic-lots-of-pics.580437/
What is it that makes your "eye" a one year only product? Just trying to determine how to help. https://www.ebay.com/itm/196549605798
So the Autronic eye is a system GM invented for the 1952 year. It is an eye that automatically puts on and off your high beams. Ford/Lincoln tried making their own version of this for the 1956 Lincoln and Continental. It is a one year only system because they had so many problems with it that for 1957 they just went with GMs Autronic eye system. Yes, Ford was buying and adding a GM product to add to their own cars. Not the last time they would do this btw. So this system is very rare because it was only produced for one model year and could only be installed for the Lincoln and Continentals, which make it so hard to find. I found an eye on eBay so really all i need at this point is the control box which is also unique. But would love to find a complete system.
It seems to me, rather than keeping your restoration so pure, it might make more sense to adapt the proven GM parts to your Lincoln. That would provide a much better chance that the autronic eye would actually function. Just my thoughts. I drive my rod a lot.
