... get used to it. You're on the biggest forum there is for people who know a lot about these cars based on what they've read, not because they grew up around them. Need proof? Check any post where someone needs tech info! haha You'll see people repeated incorrect information that they read somewhere posted by Joe Schmoe who thought he heard a dude tell him once at the bar after 15 beers that "yadda yadda yadda"...

(Yes, that's a jab. How many of the members of this forum were around and had a rod in days gone past? Not many percentage wise I'd guess...)

As aformentioned, its your car, do what you want with it.

    Don't listen to anyone else.

Good luck on the build! :D

    Couldn't agree more.

I'd rather have my 34' pickup cab and box than a 3w body any day of the week.

(You 3w guys can huff about how I'm just saying that all you want, but I don't give two rats ****s. :D)

I still don't know what it is, how about a side shot instead of the teaser shots? that rear shot looks 33-34ish if its a ford.

You have a 1978 or older FJ40 frame. The vin will be on the outside of the p*** side front frame horn. It will start with FJ40****. It has been bobbed at the back. The center crossmember has been cut out also. It is a heavy turd for a hotrod frame. They are good frames, but not under any kind of hotrod.

To be nice, the best thing you could do is throw the frame away. ModelA, repop 32, 2x4 square tube, **** it pine 2x4's would make better frame rails.

About 15 years ago a buddy of mine told me about a 3W he saw in someones front yard on the way back from a fishing trip. I grabbed the trailer and went to see. 32 FORD 3W on a scout ch***is is what it was. Yep..scout rolling ch***is. The car was a case where someone used what they had to make a " RACE CAR". I paid the man $500 and it rolled on my trailer pretty good on that scout frame. Body had a number on the doors, 42 I think, stock dash and rear garnish moulding. I couldn't wait to get it home and LOOSE that scout frame. I was lucky in that nobody modified what was left of the subrails to make it fit the scout frame. A few years later I traded that 3W for a 32 roadster.

Putting togather a hot rod on the cheap is cool. The phrase "building a Hot Rod" means to me putting togather the best parts to make the most useful, best looking and performing hot rod within your abilities, both $ and skill.

I commend you on how well you are taking the points, positive or negative made here on this post. Bottom line is do what you want too. Personally I would go with Model A or 32 rails.......not much dough and fit and looks are soooo much better .

I can give you measurements off my stock 3W i body when you sart ***embly if that helps you any.Steve

A few years back I put together a '34 Ford p/u. I started with only a poor cab. Since I planned to channel it, I took a bunch of measurements and after much junkyard looking, used a Nissan truck frame for the BASIC frame. I had planned to use a Dodge double dip tube front axle ( without much drop ), so the Nissan front frame kickup worked out fine, to get the front low. I think the sweeping front kickups ( also they pinch-in nicely ) look much better then starting with a typical ladder frame and "Z-ing" it. I think some of the snide remarks you got was people thinking you were going to do a 4wd version. IMO if you channel the body over the frame, and think about NOT using parallal (sp?) front leaf springs, go either cross spring, 1/4 elliptic (sp?), or coil-overs, the front will be ok. I tip my hat to you for thinking outside the box, and saving the old tin.

I couldn't help myself, after taking all the comments that were starting to get kinda rude, we did what I said and put the 32 Dodge or Plymouth roof for the pics and while we were at it set a 32 Chevy radiator housing out with it:D But that is the back half of a 32 ford.Hell what'll they say if it's built with those parts instead of any right ones beside the shell itself? :D

No not really, there has been so much bashing along with actual help on this that it kinda led to mixing parts for pics. Now I'm getting things like it isn't a ford at all. What we did was take the rear of the ford, roof of a 32 Dodge and radiator shell of a 32 Chevy along with the frame which turned out to be I guess from a J40 Landcruiser or something like that.Anyway the whole thing just kinda went stupid. We're gonna build it anyway

why not a pic of the real parts, like you said?

  24. whats really funny is if you look at pics from back in the day the duece 3 window was not the holy grail of hot rodding in fact alot of dueces were tore off there frames for model A's ?? and the dueces and other b models 33 and 34's were used as roundy round crash up racers..now that they are rare cause they were used as junk like 80's camero's so much.. the 32 guys are born cause they are much more RARE than a model A..I do agree with these guys ...what ever you have can probably be sold to build a really *****en complete car like the car for under 5k post has pics of... I sold a 34 3 window like you are describing last yr for 6k and wish i hadnt at this point I could hardly find another at that price.. the point is you holy grail guys are all ego maniacs and its a shame just offer the guy some cash or a trade for his parts

Well...that cuts right thru the ********!!! hahaha

I really don't think the guy has much in desirable 32 parts...but he does have a desire to build a cool, respectable car for cheap. Thats good enough for me.

BTW...I don't think he ever said he was building a 4X4!!! Not sure how people came up with that. The FJ 40 frame has nice lines even if its a little heavier than needed. Doubt it matters if the frame is slightly heavier than 2x4 tube anyway...

  26. yeah bill you are right LOL any body got pics of the spencer 3 window or the vic 3 window LOL

Interesting saying from someone who is from a state that is soooo sp****ly populated that the mathematical chances of NOT inbreeding are increadibly small. ;)

(Just giving you ****. haha I get a kick out of making fun of anyone and anything from S.D. ... not that MN is any better! haha)
