Hey Pat, the chain went on nice and tight, in fact getting on the tensioner was a real PITA haha.

 

i'm dumb enough that i didn't know about a tensioner!

 

Maybe? That skinny little girl looks kind of out of place working that chain fall. I cheated this time and pulled the engine and trans together. They'll go back in the same way but getting the hood on after is going to be a pain. I'll give you a yell, thanks.

I’ve changed the wheels and tires on the exterior. That’s pretty much it on the outside for now. Engine is also getting some updates, but not ready for this forum yet.

 

An original grill would be a nice upgrade!

 

Mocking up our 354 Chrysler with adapter for a Powerglide, perhaps we add holes for a midplate to mount the engine to the ch***is. We also needs to check how the crank aligns to the gearbox.

you’ll notice I didn’t attempt to form the compound curved section of the rear of the outer rocker.

My skills, time budget and patience don’t stretch to that right now and you really can’t tell once the stainless gravel guard trim is back on.

Also paint match isn’t perfect as it’s a blend of about 3 different spray bombs.

The good weather has arrived in the land of Haggis so I wanna drive that thing.

 

Nice weather sat. around Miami,so did both shows going on. One AM @ Gold Cost RR,then afternoon @ Peterson MC .
On the way home shifter started locking between gears,1 to 2> but not really in 2 yet. Wiggle wiggle find 2,,,It's my very old low $ Indy floor shifter; Ford 3 speed.
About 15 blocks from home it would not come out of #1,no matter how much wiggling. Drove home in first Gear> Did not want to stop an try to get under rod with hotEX pipes=burn city..so just went home.
After cool off,jack up an take a look.>Looks like readjust of shift rods needed to line up "N" cross over!
I also see ****** lub is low,,,so will add that..
Maybe should of replaced very old cheep Indy-shifter many years ago{ But is the one I put in as a teen in late 1950s { thoughts of mine are,its how I built it,vs to add a better one=update! My rod has very few up dates from early 1960s to now! < So I let that hold me back,when it has needed a better floor shifter from the get go !!!!
At this point;I'll fix old,but keep a eye open for a better used one cheep-O.
I'm guessing one of the shift rods from shifter to ****** arms has slowly bent a little,making line -up with "N" wrong=so will check for any cracks,before readjust.

 

I have been playing with this Merc grille. It was pretty bent up, but got it decent looking by cutting it apart and making a frame to reattach it to. I removed the center piece and opened up sections on the ends for park/turn lts.
I originally planned to form bend some plexigl*** to fill the gap and place a lite behind it.
But last night I was digging through some stuff and found some 50 Merc park/turn bezels and random marker lites. I came up with this floating design and like it, but not 100% sold.
Thoughts???

 

well,you will have to bend the 'frame' to match the curvature--BUT that's only mho

 

I agree having it match the curvature would be optimal, but the bezel is pot metal so bending not an option….

4/28,,Floor Shifter " Old Indy",is showing the need for TLC... I readjusted the shift arms of shifter=so now they line up again. Plus added gear lube to ****** { was almost QT. low }.
I may have too remove the main shifter bolt,an drop the handle down n out> tToo check if shift pin inj base of handle has picked up movemint{ tiny weld or pressfit ? }/ not sure,as can't see well,with out taking handle out.
Feels like it shifts,up on jacks,now; sloppy always from day one,wayback,,,
Took longer just to get back up,then do adjusting,,, 84 YO,don't move like I did....

Update added 4/29,,test drive,now shifts OK,,but drip of oil from dash oil gage< so need to open dash n see...Also all 4 corners,brake adjust needs to be done,pedal lower then should be. Try to be ready for a 2 weekend shows...

 

Got me a new toy… So I started at the back and making for a separation point since this under a truck bed.

 

Nice piece and nice work, I tried to make one that kinda sorta worked. One of those is on my wish list.

 

It’s not a bad Amazon buy. For the little I do it’ll serve me well for quit some time.

 

That would work for me, I'm well beyond production now days. I'm working on my projects and lend a hand every now and then for friends projects. Wouldn't be used much but needed to finish my own stuff.

 

We got some speed parts for our 354 Chrysler, need to order bolts with small heads for the intake.

 

I made myself get under dash of my 28a,and do something about the tiny oil drip,that showed up on toe of my gas foot. @ 84 YO getting under dsah is a lot less fun now days!.
So got the dash out mostly,enough to see oil line nut back of gage=yup,a small drop of oil hanging off nut/line coming out of gage! ,,,Find right size to use,,an snug it back up> Start engine to check=no more drip seen.
Put dash back together; Got something done ,,NEXT; need readjust all 4 brakes again,an check master to be sure it is full..
Right now need a nap,brakes later...maybe tomrrow.

Today was Cuban mojo pork over rice.

 

Haven't started yet but my flathead is running rich.... Gotta dig under the hood as soon as I get some time. Stuck pcv maybe? Did carb setup last summer and it was running fine then, so I dunno.... Still Runs fine, just smells a little g***y and some soot on the plugs when I just did my tune-up.....

 

Probably the last time posting this on the main board. It is becoming a 70's style street freak.
