Wiring the stretched roadster. Is there such a thing a good keyed battery kill switch?

  2. My avatar has a battery disconnect under the p***enger side of the seat. It’s not “keyed “ per se but it does the job.

I have seen a few recently , but must are not rated for cranking amps . My kill switch is 800Amp intermittent and 300 Amp continuous . It didn’t cost any more than lower amp switches . But it has no key just a knob . Im looking for one for the Tiger also .

I can send you a picture of the one I’ve used. Mine is on a ****on. But I think you could add it to the key switch.

  5. They do make low battery cut off switches that will power back on with ignition switch or any signal. Some wiring mods and you can make it an on off switch. You can also make one that operates with a toggle, rocker or remote. Or use a Continuous duty, high amp solenoid that stays closed with the ignition switch on then opens when ignition feed is removed.

You can always use a CAT master switch. They are keyed to fit the CAT master switch key. You can shut it off and remove the key. I’m sure the OEM ones are expensive but if the will p*** enough current to start a D8 I’m sure they will hold up to a SBC.

  9. I second the Cat switch. Very few thieves will have the Cat key. :)

That one from Cat looks good, might also try a Marine Supply for a good quality one.

  11. If you decipher the writing it should say something like "120 amps (China) = 15amps (rest of world)".

I use the setup that Hotronix sells. No body knows where it is but you.

The kill switch is not really a very good anti-theft device as it can be easily byp***ed using a jumper cable to connect the two large posts. Or, unbolting the battery cables and mount both cables on the same post of the switch.

I always find a spot to hide the solenoid so it isn’t seen.

Best thing to do is to have a locking column , & I do not mean a modern,
Take the inner shaft & cut 3 or 4 notches
so you can drop pin in , hide pin low
& make it not noticeable , & always cut wheel hard .
Some one that want your ride especially older ones more likely know how to start even if no battery .
I am constantly having to start machines on jobs because of no keys.
