Anyhow I'll be in LA visiting the woman for just over a week from this wednesday on. She lives just down the road from bobs big boy, but I hear thats not what it used to be. I am lookin for tips on where to go to catch a good crowd an some real cars.

    Thanks,

Man, if you were here just a week earlier, you could have seen the dry lakes racing at El Mirage and the NHRA Finals this past weekend.
Pomona Speedway is also home to the NHRA museum, which I checked out Sunday. Sooooo many cool and historic cars in there. Billy Gibbons little rat rod pickup was on hand too.

Bobs might not be what it used to be like, but its still a must see if youre in town. It caters to all types of cars though, so youll see a 1973 Porsche 911 parked next to a pristine 1920 Model T touring. But traditional hotrods are almost always showing up, along with customs, sleds, and muscle cars. Its on Fri. Nights and youll have to walk a little bit once you find a parking spot.

And the Peterson, check out the peterson, especially right now. 75th anniversary of the Deuce. I heard they have a huge exhibit on the deuce right now.

cool, we are actually walking distance from bobs I guess. Just wish my dog was commin with me.

Sad story - I drove her out there to LA this summer, went through Utah... Yep right about the time of speedweek. What did I see, a sign showing it was 30 miles to the flats.. Did I wanna go.. **** yes, did she? nope. I didnt fight hard enough and we kept on going. It is by far my greatest regret in life (I guess thats not too bad) but everytime I see pictures from speedweek I get goosebumps and try to fight back the rage.. I will be there next year.

  5. At the moment there is a Rat Fink display and a "Cars and Guitars" display, both worth the visit. There was a big Parnelli Jones tribute last week (that was awesome!) so some of the rods had been moved to make room for Parnelli's display of racing iron. There were only a few 32's in the Bruce Meyer Gallery as of last Thursday night but check it out, you will not be disapointed.
