    How to start….

If you remember my 55 Chevy pickup, it’s gone. Traded for a hot rod. This hot rod. 1929 roadster pickup. It’s righteous and I truly love it.

Story goes it was built by Travis (rhode alliance customs) in Connecticut. He traded Jeff in VA and Jeff added a few of his own touches. And then Jeff swapped it to me. Travis has a great YouTube and does great things and it was super neat to watch how this little pickup came together.

It is a 1929, real Henry steel except doors and rear cab panel which are brookville. The fenders still wear real Henry black paint. 32 grill. Windshield is chopped slightly.

It sits on a A frame, with an A dropped axle. Unsplit wishbones front and rear. 32 steering box and 34 steering wheel. 39 juice brakes and a highland quick change rear end. Wide five wheels with spider caps. 7.50 and 6.00 by 16 Firestone tires. I forget the spring and shackle details but I’ll go back through Travis’ videos and refresh my memory. Headlights are Guide 904 gumball and tail lights are Harley tombstone.

Power comes from a 59ab with an Eddie Meyer Hollywood 2x2 intake and dual Stromberg 97’s topped with hellings and stellings air cleaners. Ignition is Stromberg e fire. All this is mated to a 39 Lincoln zephyr trans.

That’s the big picture overall view. Lots of neat little details on this without looking like you drug it through a Cracker Barrel restaurant.

It is extremely fun and I love it a bunch. I don’t plan on doing much at all because I think it’s already pretty perfect. I did put two new front tires on it. I picked up a 28/29 roadster top and I’m going to use that for a template to make a top although I’m unsure if I’ll make a folding top or a Carson type soft top. And I may just cut down the original roadster top, but I don’t really want to. I just know I want an option for showers and longer drives in hot summer sun.

The only other thing going back and forth in my mind is MAYBE some Washington blue on the body that would match the age and look of the fenders.

So, King of Trucks is dead. Long live Prince of Pickups.

I found their YouTube channel totally by accident. It was awesome to watch them build this pickup. And all the other stuff being built too. Really amazing down to earth stuff. I reached out to Travis on Instagram to let him know I’d take real good care of it and make sure it is well loved and not messed with.
