Projects Bought a 51 Ford on Purpose

My Buddy from Edmond Said Enid got hit pretty hard.

 

You may be right about needing to adjust the headlights. I can see fine so haven’t really thought about it. But, I see what you mean.

 

Well, I have sort of just been using this car as transportation and not showing it much love. But, heading to the StrayKat 500 this weekend so figured I should clean it up, check fluids, etc. before the trip to its first car show since I bought it last August. Then, I figured I should take a few glamour shots around town since I haven’t done that for a while either. Oh, and took a young co-worker for a ride yesterday. Said he had never ridden in anything anywhere near this old and seemed to genuinely be interested. Maybe we can win another young guy over…lol

Nice car and cool pictures. I've not been to downtown Guthrie in decades, but it looks like it hasn't changed much at all. Your car just fits naturally.

You guys can likely see why so many movies are filmed in our town. We have the perfect downtown for movies set in the past. I can't count the number of movies that have been filmed in Guthrie.

 

Do they have strict laws about what the owners can do with the properties in downtown? Like not knocking down a nice old building to put up a modern McDonald’s?

 

Yes, there are some pretty strict rules and a Historic Preservation Commission that has to approve about anything done with those historic buildings. From someone who doesn't have to deal with all the rules, I like that the historical nature of town is preserved. However, from the perspective of folks I know that have owned some of those buildings, it can be a big PITA as well...

 

man, the town you live in is insanely cool! and so is the car obviously.

 

You need to get a pic with the car in front of the Oklahoma Territorial Museum. I don't remember the addition, the last time I was there, I think the museum was all in the ba*****t of the Carnegie Library.

Ya Know, a gathering of HAMB friendly cars in Guthrie wouldn't be a bad idea.

 

Haha! I almost took a pic there last night but there were some cars parked in front including my wife’s. It is across the street from the nursing home she works at and just a little west of the pic I took in front of the church.

 

No, it’s not! there’s tons of tornadoes. Nobody ever wants to go there.! Huge bugs the size of rodents, the cicadas are louder then b52’s

Thanks! It still needs some TLC, but has turned out to be a great car overall. When I was having Josh put the stripes on the dash, I would have liked to done just a few things on the outside of the car as well. But, I really need to buff the car first. Didn’t want to have to be careful around new stripes.

Oh, and was reminded again yesterday going to church and back that windshield wipers would also be nice.

 

Vacuum wipers were the original intermittent wipers, accelerate a little, let off the gas, wipe, wipe,repeat.

 

Jeff do they even try to move whenever you turn them on? Mine were being persnickety until I shot so lubricant on the pivot points and into the motor itself. Now it did take a few times to get it running but mine are working now. Oh yeah there’s a thread on here somewhere (I’ll look for you and send you the link) tells you what type of oil to put into the motor to soften the leather inside. From what I’ve read you don’t put just anything into the motor because it will seize up and I’ll be digging one of these NOS ones out for you.

 

It tries to work, just doesn’t move much. I replaced the vacuum lines running to the motor, but that’s all I have tried so far.

 

Yeah it needs a good lubing and it’ll work just fine
