Ok I feel better now. The lid fits in the hole and it opens and closes. Still need some tuning but this was a big hurdle for me

 

The small curved pieces are trunk gutter parts I made. Shrinker /stretcher is your friend. Cut to fit, shape, and weld up the middle

 

These Bart Simpson looking pieces will help box in the trunk area

I'm leaving the Frankenstein look with these pieces. They've been cut, torched, and patched multiple times. Too much history. Or I'm too lazy to make them mint, they're barely visible anyway

Pulled a muscle? (or 3) in my back so working on the interior of the 33 is painful but I want to get it done
This little package shelf made from a Mike Bowling find will fit perfectly. Seat back support next

 

Added the jail bar to 1- act as a seat support and 2- help stiffen up the body, it has tears in it already!

I did a Jaguar sedan late fifties early sixties that you car reminds me of. Overall the car didn’t look too bad before I started but after I started on it everywhere it was bolted together both pieces of metal needed repair, the rockers, door skins and some of the frames needed work and all the fenders needed quite a bit of work and when I was finally done welding shaping and fitting I had well over two hundred hours in just metal work. It was a car I hated before I was done with it.

I needed to move (bend) and relocate the transmission dip stick, extend the hold down, and pull out the heater hose in preparation for the toe board.

 

That's a serious lag bolt blocking that heater hose!!!

 

Went digging in the s**** metal pile and I had a repo inner door repair panel for a square body pick up. . . .
And I bent up the toe board, getting closer pretty much every night. More tomorrow

 

My neighbor's son runs an HVAC shop, and loaned me a large diameter tubing bender; I used it to correct the dipstick tube on the 700R4 I installed i my 447.

 

Nice steady progress, everything is fitting great. Do you have any photos of the seat bottom before the burlap went on?

 

This is the stock bottom, I had to cut it up quite a bit to make it fit. The vinyl is removed leaving the original burlap in the latest pictures

 

Thanks, I was more interested in how you tied the halves together so they would be stabile when you sit on them.

 

@ne'erdowell the seat bottom is currently wired together and the final fitment will be upcoming. I'll post pictures when I figure out how I'm going to do it

 

Thanks. FWIW , I will be performing a similar exercise and was considering using small tubing over the cut ends with a little tack weld at each end. Seems like it would provide the strength and stability necessary.

 

The seat bottom was cut, narrowed, and everything is overlapped. I used stainless steel tie wire to hold it together. I decided to just add more wire.
