Folks Of Interest Stand up members of the Hamb

In the past month or so I have bought and sold to 3 stand up members of the Hamb. All of them sent money or delivered the parts as expected and were exactly as advertised. @Birdman, @Mercury guy, and @302GMC. If they have something to sell that you want, buy from them. If they want to buy from you, sell it to them, it will go smoothly. Brian

I thought it was a call-to-action for HAMB members to "stand up" for some cause...and I was ready for the fight.

 

I have had nothing but excellent transactions with HAMB members buying and selling. All stand up people. I’d list them except for fear of missing someone.

This could be the start of a great list, I have purchased many parts from some great folks also.

 

Never had an issue buying or selling here on the HAMB or the Barn as well.

 

Also just a heads up to everyone, when ever you buy or sell to a fellow hamber , take the time to give them a positive feedback on their feedback status, which lets others know how the transactions went!

I bought a dashboard from Mercuryguy a month ago and it was a fine purchase. But just two days ago I PMed Moriarity about him performing some work on a distributor, and he told me he’d sell me a better one of his own from his collection. Above and beyond is what I call that!

 

I've sold a lot of stuff on the Hamb and never had any problems and bought a lot and always had good transactions. It's a great thing to be able to use. To bad shipping is so high now, that sure cuts down some of the buying and selling.

Bill, aka @Bangingoldtin, was very helpful to me with my nailhead projects. He gave me both parts and advice that made my project easier, as did Brian and Walt (@BJR and @Fat47 ) when i was working on my Buick. Hamb'ers have always been helpful to me.

 

Although I am kind of a newbie here, there are some of our fellow members that have been extremely helpful.
@rockable, @DeltaBravo(DB), and @choptop40 to name a few. All standup guys.....

 

I'll add one caveat to this. The guys that actually post threads and/or reply to them have all been great. but there's also a lot of members who seem to only be here to sell stuff. I bought a piece of '47 Ford car trim (specifically asking for 47) and he sent '48. His answer? Well, it was used on some '47s. Which was true ('47 was a weird year) but not helpful...

 

I signed on here just about ten years ago and in that time I’ve had some great interactions with other HAMB’er’s. Maybe it was just a simple DM about something, selling things here, or at times I’ve sent items to members free, only asking for the cost of the postage. My trust in you guys hasn’t been completely compromised but I have to tell you I’ve learned there is always at least one bad apple. My mistake was following my usual routine of suggesting they send payment after receiving the package in the event it was lost or damaged in transit.
A member, and I use that term rather loosely in this instance because a real member would be a stand up guy, has broken that trust. He is building a blown flathead and I offered him a front cover for a GMC 71 series blower, sand blasted clean with a blue anodized tri-plate on it for $60. He didn’t see my DM for a while but when he did he said he wanted it and could get free UPS through his employer. I box up the item and advise package dimensions and weight, he sends me the label info and I print it at home. I did get a note from him that the package arrived and everything goes smoothly until there’s no payment coming. There were a few comments like I forgot, or I didn’t get to the PO for a money order and one asking if I have PayPal, which I do not. Saturday will mark the 45th day since this began and in that time Google has shown me a few things about his background. It appears he shouldn’t have a problem with the payment so if he has no trouble sleeping with being a cheap *** I won’t lose any sleep over that $60 either. But you real HAMB’er’s should know that I still believe in all you honorable guys and girls here.
He can have a good laugh at what he’s done but I take solace in knowing that everyone eventually gets what they deserve.

 

@Fordors I think you should name him, so he doesn't do that to another Hamber.

 

I've bought a couple of things from Hamber's and/or sought help with US based items to ship down-under or to my CA based shipping address. I've used PayPal each time and never had any issue(s). I've also sold a few items to Hamber's and likewise never had any issue(s). Most are stand up guys however you read of the occasional rogue.

I did not expect @Moriarity to get this involved, and I have thanked him for his extra effort. In retrospect I didn’t mean for @Ed95 to get outed, but since he’s made good on the transaction I think he deserves to be here. At 77 I’ve never seen the need for all the new ways like Venmo, Zelle, Cash App, let alone the old standard PayPal that younger generations use to send funds. The World is getting more cashless all the time, but I still typically carry a couple hundred around along with my credit cards.

 

I'm aware of that. Good that it has been sorted. I was just pointing out how 45 days dragged past with no joy for @Fordors , but when you shone the spotlight on the situation things happened at near the speed of light.
