2007 Canadian Hot Rod tour

  1. So... something can't be Canadian unless it includes all provinces and territories? That's some interesting logic there, boy-o.

I'm Canadian living in Georgia, I'm going to tell Frank he has to bring the tour down here or I'm going to kick my toys out of the crib.

On second thought, perhaps I'll just lend my support to some hot rodders who are trying to pull something together and could use the help.

As an east coast boy who now lives on the west coast i`d like to see a rod tour start in Newfoundland and continue to Vancouver Island, then head back to Newfoundland, what a great time that would be. I think any tour that takes place in Canada has a the right to be called a Canadian tour, it would be a stretch to call a tour from Toronto to Langely a cross Canada tour. Lets hope this tour will inspire someone to take the lead in organizing a ture cross Canada tour!

  3. It's obvious that it's time for Canadian Rodder to say something relative to this (didn't even post an intro yet - sorry about that). I'm the proprietor of Canadian Rodder and the principle behind the Tour. Please bear with me as I explain the origins of this road trip.

Canadian Rodder announced last fall that we were going to build a '32 in honor of the 75th Anniversary next year. Shortly after, we decided (my wife and I) that we wanted to drive the car out to BC to take part in Northwest Deuce Day (we live in Southern Ontario). Some friends heard about our plan and asked if they could tag along. We, naturally, said that we would be happy for the company. A few more people asked and before we knew it, the idea to open the trip up came about.

Anyone from anywhere is welcome to join the Tour. In fact, there are people planning on joining in from New York State, North Carolina, Michigan, Australia, Quebec and New Brunswick. Southern Ontario is only a rallying point for July 17 for those coming from various direction (east, south and southwest). The first overnight is in Sudbury. I would imagine that some people will join in there and then at other overnights.

Certainly it was never anyone's plan to exclude anyone from coming along. While I live in Ontario, I don't think it the centre of any universe. While in business I travelled to all parts of Canada and loved them all.

We are calling this trip "Points West" as that's the direction we're heading. We have already started talking about "Points East" as the next tour. I would hope that we could attract people from the west, north and south for that adventure. I'm sure it would as we have already bounced that idea off people.

I mentioned above about interest from New Brunswick. I met with the gentleman a few weeks ago. He is looking for company to make the make the trip up. Should anyone be interested, please let us know. Overnights would be planned as appropriate and added as days prior to the 17th.

We'd love to have additional Maritimers and rodders from La Belle Province along for even part of this Tour so that we can get to know you when we come your way.

    Regards,

    Frank
p.s. this tour was never advertised as an across Canada tour - simply a Canadian Hot Rod tour. And, from what we've heard, most people will only run for a number of legs but not all. Despite the ruckus, thanks to fordnutz for starting this topic. He is generously ***isting us in his neck of the woods.

I have already been discussing the "Return Run" with a number of my Bonneville buds from California, who are thinking of coming up to Vancouver (or maybe Victoria; time permiting) and joining in.

Many have never been to Canada and have expresed interest in "seeing the sights" and what Canadian rodders are "up" to.

At the moment, this "Canadian Tour" has gained some overseas participants. (cars INCLUDED!!)
So far I know of one from Austrailia; and another from England.

So ... regardless of WHERE your from; 'comon ALONG!

    Enough said.........it will never change.

I agree that Pat has done well with bringing this forward. The tour is a great idea, however it is still far from a perfect situation. And you wonder why there is always tension between the east v.s the west. The ferry issue is a dead one since they will do one in B.C.

I am done with this as Pat is a good guy and means well. I am however not supprised by some of the replies. Everyone sees no wrong til it is them. Well your turn will come some day, and then you can rant to your hearts content.

    Thanks for the entertaining thread.........

To those who take part in the tour, have fun and be safe.

OK .... seems like nobody wants to check whats happening anywhere else in Canada as far as the "TOUR" goes. There ARE other places besides Toronto:mad: and B.C. (BRING CASH). I HOSTED a 50th Duece run here in Sask. Cypress Hills which saw '32's from California, Colorado, Alberta, Manitoba, and of course Sask. attend. And yes I am hosting another one for the 75th. It will be held in conjunction with the Northside Street Rod's "HOT ROD HI JINX " mid JUly the final date will be announced shortly. So if you are traveling thru this area be sure to look us up.

For more info on the 75th Deuce celebrations out this way you can PM me or get me at ewelta@sasktel.net. Here's a shot of the plaque from the 50th.
