Customs 4to1 urethane hardener in acrylic enamel?

I tried it out on a few small parts and a s**** test panel, seems almost twice as shiny and kicks off and is tack free much faster than the 8 to1, behaves just like urethane single stage. Anyone else tried this, quick note too before any one loses their mind reading this lol,the hardeners appear to have the same main ingredients

 

What brand? The hardener may well be the same, but is used in different ratios for a reason

 

the hardener is Upol ,i been using there product line for some years now,the acrylic enamel is an off brand from ebay,here is what iv found off some product or sds sheets on hardeners
upol Hexamethylene diisocyanate, 30 - 60 % by weight versus typical off the shelf acrylic enamel hardener Hexamethylene Diisocyanate 50-75% by weight so baseing it off that seem going 4to1 was pretty safe

 

I hope you all realize that the hardener is the deadly aspect of modern paints and using it in enamel makes enamel just as dangerous as urethane paints and the same safety precautions need to be followed.

Because the isocyanates are the most dangerous to your lungs suiting up should include adequate respiratory protection charcoal filters at the bare minimum, a supplied air face shield under positive pressure is best.

 

I use a drip in model car enamel to harden it.

 

A Drip ? im not sure what you mean,or do you mean you just throw a little in by eye

 

Just use urethane paint, hot rodding ain't cheap. As a painter, I do what the can says. I'm not a chemist.

 

Yes. I'm referring to the brush paint in the little bottles. Pour out a bit of paint, add in a tiny bit of hardener, then paint. Cures like catalyzed urethane, doesn't stay gummy for a long time like the enamel usually does. Works in any enamel brush paint used for crafts and hobbies.
