Shortest short bus ever? It’s got to be close

Picked up a gm trans. A np440. Or the gm version of the mopar 3 speed OD.
I have a mild 350 and a stock 292 Chevy.
The bus has a hydro clutch so keeping it manual is EZ and sounds fun.
But, that’s a bit down the road.
The bus body will get bolted to the ch***is, door bottoms cut and steering hooked up.
And that’s it for a while

 

C60 fender trimmed to fit the bus cowl
Wheel just sitting there. Lugs too short.
This wheel is busted.

Fixes the drop issue.
Might go this route.
I have 2 c60 running board extensions that will cure the rear of the fender height issue.

Good luck on the short bus.
Had a good friend that bought a short bus from the local school system. Said he bought it to haul all the fat boy friends to the swap meets. Unfortunately he p***ed too soon. As pallbearers, we rode on the short bus behind the he**** to the cemetery. RIP Holmes.

Your current combination of C60 fenders and lowness is full of win. Keep swinging for the fences!

 

My other bus has the large truck fenders. I’ve always wondered what it would look like with the regular fenders.

im glad I put both style fenders on this one.

the wheels are 8 lug that hid under a chrome cap with faux big truck lugs

Hauled of the leftovers from the bus and the “new” ch***is

rear section of frame s****ped for $200
This pile was almost $300
Cost of bus plus “new” frame = $700.
Subtract $480 for s****
Total cost of bus at this point, $220

 

You’ve seen it done on pickups when they mount the body and box backwards on the frame so it looks like the truck is going down the road backwards, now do that with a bus and you’ve got something…

Or build a bus with two fronts on it, one at each end, you could build a trailer using the back half’s….

Yep. Every time I walked past one, I'd check the coin-return for a forgotten dime...once in a while I'd get lucky.

 

Anthony what do you use to drill out the rivets on the body panels ? Could you post a picture of the tool ?

We carefully ground some the heads off on my other bus with a cut off wheel
But that can often scar up panels were trying to keep clean.
so for saving those panels we ground a flat spot on the rivet and drilled off the head

 

There’s never an easy way to do things right is there .
