Thank you @Adriatic Machine that worked

Going back quite a ways but I had an idea for a neat set of headers with belled tips in a grouping I hadn’t seen before. IMG_2430.png

A shot of the headers ,also showing the shell support rods

Making this decklid was one of the more challenging projects on the car. While it’s far from perfect I learned a lot on it and am happy with the result.

Put a cool diamond shape pattern on it for my buddy Mike to punch the louvers. It hinges like factory and uses a Dzus in the center as the “latch”

Rolled outside to see how everything is looking

Next up was repairing all the rot on the back of the car and building some aluminum wheel wells with some nice louvers, again punched by Mike IMG_2435.png IMG_2436.png IMG_2438.png

A couple shots while I was finish welding the ch***is.

The car is all apart now and I’m gearing up the start on the bodywork/paint. Thanks for the support guys, I’ll keep things updated as I make progress with the paint.

Will the roll bar meet NHRA requirements, in case you want to run it on a sanctioned track?

Definitely not NHRA compliant, I have a few outlaw tracks in my region I can run at and check out Northeast Vintage drags for early style drag racing events. They do a race in NY at the Seneca army depot on the old airstrip.

What a cool coupe, it'll be killer seeing it run down the track! Thanks for updating the thread, I missed it first time round, will sub & follow along.

A lot of nice work, how much compression are you planning for the 283

The engine plans changed quite a bit since I started this project. The engine is all done now and dyno showed 470hp 415tq it’s a 350 block running dome pistons 12.6 compression , TF aluminum double hump 175cc heads, .600 lift solid roller, six 97’s with a magneto. It should be a pretty wild ride in the little coupe!

This is the paint I bought for the coupe, it’s a 1957 Coral Red. IMG_1502.jpeg

Thank you, I originally bought these smaller runner heads when the plan was a 4” bore 283 but then I ended up doing 360ci. The heads I have are 175cc 2.02 1.60 but they also sell a 200cc runner version. I believe it would have easily made over 500hp if I had the bigger heads.
