Having to add a 5" extension to the catwalk is hardly a deal breaker. Nobody said it's easy. The question is, 'can you get a good result'.

The first few posts in the thread were commenting saying 'just' extending the doors and reworking the roof.

I'm just trying to temper expectations of results from inexperienced DIY or a low ($5k) budget for Pro work.

People build vehicle bodies from scratch everyday and have done for over a hundred years, however if you don't have that experience, you need either a ton of time or money.

1942-1948 Buicks shared the same platform as that model Cadillac . You would be better off finding doors and moving the post back.

I know a guy who took a Mercury 4 door to a guy and he extended the front doors to a length that he liked . The doors are about 3” shorter than a stock two door . So grind , cut and weld away . It’s only metal and your the one that needs to be happy about the way it looks

The longer version looks a lot better; this one is too "cartoonish".

It depends on what you like - I am not a fan of ostentatious size.

This is just a quickie MS Paint 'shop to see what is possible giving the OP ideas.

To me it looks like what a doctor's coupe would have been then.

needs coupe roof so long trunk balances against that long hood

As 34Phil mentioned the cat walk will need to be extended or a longer trunk used to give it the proper proportions of a coupe. Here is a Buick I'm currently working on which is the same as GM platform as a 47 Cadillac. It was a 2 door to begin with but no matter if you lengthen the doors or swap them out with coupe doors the roof and trunk will need to be heavily modified.

People would fall over dead if that sinister beauty were to prowl around here in Portugal...

the photochops the OP posted were all more fastback style so I did that as well.

****** hell. That is spectacular. That’s exactly what i wanted but didn’t know it. To me….thats the definition of a kustom. Not just making changes to be different but actually creating something cohesive as a whole, not just small tweaks. Anyone have more details on that car? Is it real or photochop?

If you're looking for someone to do this. Gas Axe Garage here in Michigan did the conversion on this car known as The Crystal Cadillac. https://www.facebook.com/GasAxeGarageMI
