Did I seriously just hear a guy say he liked GLITTER? Seats look good, I'm a fan of straight up metal though. I havent seen the car yet, can someone indulge me?

I painted them because this car will see a lot of driving and I wasnt to into the rust factor, besides everyone is doing the raw metal thing, so I wanted something different. Heres a pic of the car. there are more in a post entitled " And now for something a lil different"

thats all fine, but I didnt use metal flake. I went into my 3 year olds art supplies and took his glitter. It is a little finer than flake, nad more corse than metalic. Its glitter.

The seats are just raw metal, sealed with a thin layer of etching sealer. I then painted them with a thick industrial gloss black coating to cover the grinding marks. After letting it dry for an hour I mixed up some clear and poured a liberal amount of my kids glitter in it. 2 coats of glitter later I left it at that. It was really easy, nd you are right it looks kinda like powder coat.

I did some experimentation a few years ago, possible less expensive alternatives to 'flake.

The average craft glitter will lose it's color once exposed to sunlight very quickly. All the colored stuff I've seen turns silver, which I'm assuming is the base color of whatever they make it out of.

Depending on the type of clear you use, a lotta that stuff will melt into a globular mess.

This stuff worked great, and didnt clog the tip in a 1.4 gun, which is really pretty small. I really like it.

  23. So,,,,did you finally man-up & show your 3 year old where his glitter went?
Ya better replace it so he can get started on some Christmas cards!
    Santa's watching.
