Event Coverage Hot Rod a Rama Prescott AZ

Here is what I saw while working for @curbspeed, who put on this show. This was the first year, and it was a home run in my book. All I was told or overheard all weekend is this: it's as good as The ROC, TROG, and has the feel of old Paso Robles.

Most people have no idea how much work and how much legal work it takes to put something this big together and make it happen with very little drama, as far as I know. It was an honor to be asked to be on the crew for putting this together, and while it was a lot of work, it was totally worth it.

dale @curbspeed , you and your team totally knocked this one out of the park and clear into next week . You said we would never be the same again, and how right you were . TRADITIONAL Through and through. .Totally mind blowing . Fantastic effort putting this together for a first time venue, outstanding. Food , bars , shade trees , fantastic people we met . Just unreal atmosphere ,and fantastic memories . I am trying to post pictures, but hotel internet ****s. Will try when we get home to New Zealand. Most folk will have never seen such a cool collection of neat old iron in one place. If anyone thinks about going next year, just do it . A real top quality gathering. Prescott is a perfect venue all the historical buildings as an outstanding back drop . I can see I need to expand my collection. Shame the airline won’t let me bring one as carry on luggage.

Yes, they did two drive-around the entire venue.

The was to give the feel of a corral for the special parking area for model 40 cars and trucks.

 

Justified!

 

We cruised them around the streets a couple of times. I had some dragsters lined up but they had to back out for a medical reason.

The gold pickup is a former George Poteet truck. It won King of Hotrod-a-rama so you have good taste. Owned by Mike Chisinger of Phoenix. The gold 40 belongs to Jerry Mlady and he organized the scenic cruise to Historic Jerome

 

On another note, next year's show date is May 13-15th 2027. Make plans now and mark it on your calendar. The 13th will be a garage tour in Prescott, Az. or a shorter cruise than this year and not so steep. I do know how to put on a quality hotrod show. I vet every car. I appreciate my "Barely Ok Guys"-Marginal at Best Crew. They killed it in getting things set up and the hotrods parked. It went pretty damn smooth! Cheers and don't be afraid to join us. Far out, that’s planning ahead , I think NZ hot rod mag is planning a feature on your swell teams event. Hopefully it sparks more interest from down under. Hey , me riding shotgun in your super cool coupe is what life is all about, making lifelong memories. Sure as you said “ it doesn’t ride like a sports car” but you must have arms like popeye going up and over the steep twisting Jerome mountain . I thought it rode pretty darn good for an ol jalopy . Epic adventure, highly recommend this event for anyone with a traditional car , well worth attending Event . Smoothly run in a perfect traditional relaxed setting. Traditional cars , numerous bars, lots of food places, music venues surrounding, cool folks all around, life doesn’t get any better than this weekend.

WOW!!...WOW!!!...WOW!!.................Did I mention, WOW!!!.

 

Looks like a greet show. Prescott is a great little town with lots of local hot rods. I took a tour of all the car builders/shops several years ago. Lots going on then. It was a dream of mine to move to Prescott in my old age but current real estate prices plus my age has brought that dream to a halt. We'd need inside parking for at least 6-7 cars plus a small shop. Don't need a huge house anymore, when we built our current home we were going to downsize and ended up with about 4000 Sq ft plus garage space for 7 cars, 1200 square ft shop and undercover trailer parking. We couldn't come close to that in Prescott for under a million dollars. Sorry to ramble on off topic but I can dream.

 

I watched a video. It was great to see many running.

 

You don't see many windshield wipers down there in AZ.

 

Observations from our viewing angle:

• Saw Chick's car with the top up... a rarity but he drove something like 900mi from the Reno area.
• Some really nice cars, many of them local
• Bars and food places were crowded but Prescott has a lot of events so this is probably business as usual. The show support of the businesses locally is important to a successful continuation of the show
• Street was underutilized but may have been due to city rules.
• Local spectators were thin (compared to other shows), may have been due to first year of show factor
• Didnt see many photographers with good setups or shooting off a stick although pictures by Hot Rod Ron are nice.
• Good shade is always enjoyed
• Few water bowls for the dogs
• Some interesting vendors, quality names. Vendor location grouped vendors together and separated from hot rods parked on square.
• Had a good barbecue brisket sandwich; lots of restaurants/bars on the square
• Will attend next year, hope it grows!
