Thanks Dan. I took it apart back in Sept. and then dragged my feet. Got it back together, had a miss. Found a broken valve spring. Fixed that and got to drive it today. Feels good. Just need to sort out some minor issues then keep making positive changes.
Get back out in the garage, or you're dropping back a square! Thanks Dave! Hoping it gives you some incentive. If you squint, it's almost ready to be posted on the regular side. Just ignore the valve covers and radials. EDIT: posted over in a thread on the main board. We shall see if it gets tossed. I'm trying to make it look earlier, I swear!
Needs steel wheels and Moon discs. And some old school Chevrolet scripted valve covers. There are adapters available to use perimeter bolt valve covers on center bolt heads. But getting them is not easy. I’ve got a set of staggered bolt covers and a set of straight across covers. And I’m hanging on to both…
Well, not to ruffle feathers of others, BUT a T-Bucket is about the most non-aerodynamic vehicle there is. Open wheel, lots of turbulent bits uncovered, big tall windshield and the back sure isn't allowing the trailing airflow to close back up! To my mind, Moon discs fit a swoopy car beautifully, but not a T. So I'm not going that way. http://greasegirl.com/2011/07/speed-seeking-studebakers-5-the-rest-of-the-pack/ Those adapters are as pricey as a set of valve covers. I've mentioned in PMs what I hope to track down for a replacement. They are on the watch list, along with a different steering wheel, exhaust that's quieter, and a few other upgrades.
I just like Moon discs regardless of the car. My mom’s last car was an ot T-bird, 88. She lost one wheel cover, and asked me to get her another one. I lived in Michigan at the time, and was close enough to Detroit and the brand specific junk yards, so I tried, and failed miserably! Then I got one of those brilliant ideas, I bought her 4 snap on Moon discs, from Mooneyes! Gave them to her on Christmas Day. My brother and I had them on in 10 minutes. She was okay with them. However she was a customer of the service station in Bennington VT, owned by the Hemmings people. You know, car guys work there. So the next time she takes her plain vanilla T-bird to the station, they all come out and look the car over. And they all tell her that they like it!
@Greg Stokes That bucket is nice! Customer build or your own? Can you share more pictures? I went looking and found the site and FB. That Road Hog is quite the wild (re)build!
Thanks - The T-bucket was for a customer - he hasnt finished it yet. Came to me alot different to what you see pictured but it all worked out. I shortened it and fitted that body and wheels etc Thanks re Road Hog too - I should possibly do a build thread or something - we restored it to 1972 guise
Those first two have been discussed here. Is that last one Ted Brown's? Sure looks like it. https://www.tbucketplans.com/ted-brown-t-bucket-ch***is-designer-extraordinaire/
bill porterfield's t is still one of my favorites. from 1979. hope it's in the spirit of this thread.
I try hard not to be a gatekeeper. I have opinions on stuff, but there are very few cars that you can't learn something from. I may have started this thread, but I don't own it. If you want to post a rear engine T, one of those swoopy full body rods that incorporate a T that flashed in the late 70s, I don't care. We are here to share and enjoy. If we all agreed that a current Speedway motors kit with a SBC/TH350 and 9 inch, painted Black is the only 'right' one, this place would dry up and blow away.
This is the above car,the T-Bone-T with added graphics in the early 80s.Copied it from page 1 of this thread.
