Recent finds and buys

I always thought they should have said “Motocycles” but they may not have had someone’s permission.

 

I've gotten a ton of cool new stuff over the last few weeks and just haven't had time to post any pictures until now. Lots more coming, but here's a few.

This "NEW CAR" sign was apparently from a Standard station, they called their hi-test Ethyl "New Car Power" for a while, got it at a farm auction.



Got this wiper thing from the same farm auction, it had been part of some kind of rack or cabinet but it was missing pieces so I just put these pieces together and now it's a two sided "flange".



This was from an estate sale, same kinda thing, it was an Atlas tune-up display but parts were missing and I couldn't figure out a use for it so I cut out the interesting parts, now I have two of these and a big, flat one that says Atlas on it, this is the only one I've found a spot for so far.



This one is from a local junkyard that closed down, I've got it hung above my toolboxes with a few other similar ones, I'll get an updated pic. I like these cabinets, they're useful for storage. This one is newer than some of the other ones I have but I like the handles and it was really cheap.



Then the veal sign, I actually kinda paid up for this (I'm usually pretty cheap, all the stuff above was bargain priced IMO) but anything meat-related I like to get for my office in the old meat market, and I couldn't resist.



There will be more, it's been a bonanza of finds lately.

 

A pic of the Standard/Blue Streak cabinet put in place with it's brothers which I think I posted here years ago. The Robert Simmons thing is also recent, it was for paintbrushes, not sure what I'm going to put in there but I'm sure I'll fill it up



I also collect Cold War stuff and I had to re-shuffle my office wall to fit a couple new finds here, the "Restricted Area" one is from the Minuteman Missile historic site in South Dakota, they're posted all over the place but they'll also sell you a new one in their gift shop so that's where this one is from.

And the other new one is the radiation one on the middle left, that's from a place called Igloo, SD, A former government weapons stockpile facility that was decommissioned in 1967 and now people are turning it into some kind of end-of-the-world survivalist camp, this is one of the original signs they took down.



There will be more yet, but that's all I have pictures of so far.

The Greenbriar van must have been seriously cool in its day. Scope out the **** interior! I dared my buddy to pick up the **** magazine. He declined...

 

@Squablow - You're right, it's a 150 and I didn't even notice. It was sensory overload, dark in there, too. I almost tripped over a 4 speed SS console. There's parts for 2 door tri 5 conversions, doors and donor vehicles.

 

Today I did the meet and greet. Picked up some Impala consoles, the 2 pieces on the left ***emble to make a '63 Powerglide unit. The others are 1964, blank one is for a bucket seats column shift car. Original paint hood for the '55 and a solid but rusty trunk lid. Better than the trunk I got from Carlisle containing 2 gallons of bondo in the shotgun blast. Used and NOS S/S Cragar caps , too.

 

Carnival wheel at an auction a few hours ago. Even has a wooden bicycle rim.

 

The fact that someone even produced that red/white/blue **** carpet is kind of amazing, someone at one time had that in their living room. The trend of everything beige/gray today is a violent over-reaction to the audacity of that exact carpet pattern.

 

Its groovy! When my buddy gets the Olds rag(literally)top im going to help and look into the cars a little more. Especially the 150.

 

Nice! And it has the rare, optional plexigl*** bed floor.

Some time ago, when wood bed floors were still a thing, GM parts offered the wood planks in various lengths with real GM part numbers. Only ever ordered them a couple of times, plus the bed irons. As far as I know it was the only wood parts you could order from GM up through the late 70s and early 80s.

We had some regular farm truck owners back then at our semi-rural Chevy dealership. As I understood it, hauling bags of fertilizer is what really shortened the life of the bed floors. Especially if it got wet and/or the sacks weren't completely sealed up. For that matter it was corrosive enough to even eat through metal floor boards. Ordered a few metal bed floors over the years as well.

 

The plan is to make it go and stop. The roof has major tree damage. Large limb KOd the bed and roof.
I’ve got a good 60-63 cab and a 64-66 big window cab that could donate the roof and rear cab section.
The truck has a rebuilt ***le. Really solid cab with minor floor issues. The cab corner was hit years ago and full of filler. The bed is ugly but super solid.
I plan on dropping it a good bit. Was curious how the cruisers fit. They just don’t line up well with the body line. Would probably look worse when the bed trim is on

 

All good options. I happen to like skirts. Those years seem to be pretty popular. Maybe you can find a builder with a good ***le and use all the best parts...if the rebuilt ***le bothers you.

 

It will be the first old ride I’ve ever had with a ***le.

I’ve wanted a c10 for a while. This one interests me cause everybody told the previous owner to part/s**** it.
That’s my kinda ride.

 

Here in Georgia we don't have ***les either until the 70's or 80's. I've had a black grille in the rafters for years that was a take off in the late 60's....some day.... Just got the aluminum one but I think it's for a big truck.

 

I know where they went. A buddy has them in his garage.

 

I love these trucks. My grandfather had one when I was a kid. He painted it house paint white with a brush. I’d love to have it now. I think it was a sell off from a coal mine. He got one and my dad got one. Pretty nice at the time. Both 6 cyl step side.
