I hesitate to post my pile right behind Harald's fine work, but I've rebuilt my Shade Tree Speedster after we got hit from the rear a couple of years ago. The Model A banjo diff was bent in that accident, so it now has front and rear axles from 1937, shortened/stepped frame, airplane-style fabric body, but the same old babbitt banger.

Did some work on a DuVall some years ago
Wanted 1:1 rockers built and cut for chamber o-ring as the gaskets were not available and used solid copper gasket
Interesting solution to putting bigger valves in a smaller bore, although probably not as efficient.

Thought I would post some parts that I made a while back
On the manifold I have, the ports are larger than the ports on my model A block so I made transition plates. The plates bores are tapered to match the size differences.

 

When the gray Yamma bond cures, I will then twerk it down on REMflex gaskets

 

What size tires are you running in the rear?

Years ago, I had a Lakes header on the A and the pesky thing would start leaking now and then, Remflex 3040 to the rescue. The gasket worked well in that situation so I use them now on any manifold I put on.

Looking for some advice/dimensions, I have a repo tub for my 29 rpu, I would like to know the height from the bottom of the tub to the frame, I suspect its 4in (100mm) if its close I will likely build a sub frame out of 4 x 2 shs steel tube but it would be good to know what the original system size was. I have searched high and low to no avail. (even looked in my L.A. and other books).
Can anyone help?

 

These oak pieces originally were between the box apron and the frame. I don't see the apron on yours. Maybe 28 didn't have it. They a 38.5" long, 3.625" wide and 1.75" high.


I wanted the box to sit higher so I made new pieces 44" long, 3.625" wide and 3.25" tall. These accommodated the tail lights without additional supports and put the box at the height that I wanted. The bottom of the box to the frame rail is now 7.5" as opposed to 6" stock. I know we are talking 28 vs 30, but I am pretty sure the mountings were the same.




How it sits today, 1.5" taller
