Customs What did I buy? Thunderbird experts

I was perusing the HAMB and saw a rear seat out of a Tbird. I mentioned it to my wife and told her it would be a cool fit for her 55 Ford Custom we are building. The problem was it was about 1500 miles away. Within seconds one popped up in FB Marketplace? Coincidence? Me thinks not.

Even so, I called the guy and we struck a deal. He wasn't a car guy. He bought a piece of property and it was a junk collectors haven. Fortunately, for me FarmTruck had been there earlier, picking through some of this junk and told the guy that the seat was an early 60's Tbird and that he should sell it. So, I bought this set for $77.

So, can you tell me what I actually have here? Year wise?

What is the right years for the Ford p*** car swaps?

 

Pretty sure you have the backs upside down. I believe the part with the tabs are the backs. Tabs face down.

 

That wouldn't surprise me. I thought it was missing pieces until I started looking at pics.

 

I dont know if those year T birds are wider seats but a 58-60 seat with its arm rests is the same width as a Tri Five Chevy.

 

I have the 55 up on the lift right now. I'm dying to get up there and mock it up.

Tony Miller had 64 Tbird seats in the back of his 56. The 55 will require a little extra fab work for the bottom to sit flat across the hump.

 

I figured there would be some fab work. Just so long as there is hope.

 

'64-'65. The '66 had different upholstery and foam, but same springs, etc. Did you get the fold down armrest that goes between the rear backrests as well?

 

I have one of these somewhat crudely forced into my '53 Ford. The width is good, but the transition between the package tray shapes is the hardest part to make right. Easier if you have those sheetmetal/trim bits from a T-bird, which do unbolt.
