History Traditional custom scoops thread. Roof, sides, hood, all the scoops.

I was looking for some ideas for scoops on a build I'm thinking about. I noticed there are threads on mild customs, radical customs, and interior. But only a little bit on scoops and its mainly just people asking how to make them. But I don't see a dedicated thread of pictures of cool scoops and I don't mean the muscle kind. They are very common on old customs whether in the fenders or on the hoods or even in the headlights. Some are on the trunk lids and rear quarters. Even in the grill. I thought a dedicated picture thread for inspiration of customs with scoops would be good to add since I didn't find much dedicated to them when I used the search function. If there is one already let me know because I couldn't find it. I'll post some I've seen and saved.

 

These are a few I found searching on the net. I'm throwing buick portholes in also because they are kind of scoops too. This truck has neat scoops above the headlights.

I was at the local joint having ****tails years back and some old timer came in and asked who was driving the shoebox. We went out and looked over my car and come to find out dude had an entire barn full of customs, including this. The 'Utopia', Alan Reasons car. Even the scoops have scoops.... Lol.



I was supposed to go see his stuff and was actually asked to do an interview with him, but I just never got around to it. I would imagine he's p***ed on now. This was many years ago and he was in really bad shape even then..

 

C'mon folks! Post up your 50s and 60s scoops! Extra points for quads surrounded by scoops! Ignore the haters! More! More!

 

I always thought the 1953-57 F500 and up Big job Ford scoops were cool. All the old hay trucks and grain trucks around here in Oklahoma are missing theirs. When they were parked people helped themselves to them. The crazy thing is, they were reversed like a heat extractor rather than like a scoop. when I’ve seen them actually mounted I’ve seen where they’ve been reversed so the holes where they originally sat were empty because the holes were not placed the same front side and back. In the front they had a peak in the bottom chrome that matched the hood peak in the trucks. In one picture, you can see the hood peak space. I’ve seen two of them on a 1964 slick short bed, both forward facing, they look a little bit like a muscle car scoop but the chrome changes up the look just a little bit

Yes it very much counts. Are the chrome spears hand made or did they come off of some kind of car? I'm trying to find some chrome spear ideas for my stuff. I've found some 53 merc ones on ebay but that's about it. I've been thinking about making some myself.
