  7. Newly acquired FA. Dayton Ohio area. Engine is Ault&James 327. Would like some history. I got it from a fellow named Martin. Under the yellow are traces of a brighter yellow and red metal flake. RIEDS fibergl*** nose, RH door sealed shut. Any history or info appreciated. New to Altereds IMG_7380.jpeg

I like this one, who is that? I seem to recall the name Bad Actor but I thought it was a front engine top fuel dragster.

Don Wilson was the owner, and Howard Haight was the driver. The car was the former Wilson- Gary Hazen car Panic.
Howard Haight was an outstanding fuel driver who also drove the Pure Heaven II AA/FA and the Bantam Hunter AA/FA cars plus many noteworthy AA/FD cars.

Oh, ok. I recall those names. In the early days of nostalgia racing IIRC, Wilson and Haight (or was it Gary Read?) teamed up with George Doty and Mike Demarest to run an old iron block 392 N/TF dragster. It was not pretty but it thundered. I think it ran 6.30 and just missed the field at Bakersfield. I loved the fact that they pulled out an old rusty Don Long ch***is, updated it just enough, freshened up an old cast iron Hemi and were able to run with the modern N/TF guys. IIRC, it was called “Bad Actor”.

Maybe a Logghe? or a Buterra?? They both used coil-overs early on.

It looks like 6 Strombergs sticking through the hood, likely on a blower.

1961 was when Jim Harrell and Willy built the ‘gl*** T car on a muffler-moly ch***is. Mild steel was typically used and one of the first commercially available chrome-moly frames was from Dragmaster in 1962. They built their Dart ch***is in either mild steel or chrome-moly, and moly being mandated by the NHRA was still years in the future.
