End of day today.

 

Final touches on the Belly Tank with my young (7 month) ***istant. JW

 

My son has a Ford tilt cab. Was a fire truck. He started his concrete finishing business with it . Ran great. No rust. He has let it set outside in the weather for the last 15 years. What a waste!

 

We have two bays, lift in one, lathe and mill in the other

 

@OL 55 , last time I swapped engines in my 47, I laid the compressor on the p***enger fender, left radiator ***embly in place, and lifted straight up. Maybe I'll take your lead, and pull sheetmetal and swing radiator/condenser and compressor to side, and do the swap, and ch***is mods.

Back in the days when it was somewhat clean and hadn't moved all my equipment from my shop in town and changed out car projects that take up more space. This is the ba*****t of my house that has around 1,200 square feet. One nice feature is it is climate controlled.


This a bit of what some of it looks like now. The engine corner.

I'm loving the retierment after working on all the customer cars for 35 plus years to get to work on only my stuff at my place.
There have been many cars built in this ba*****t over the years even when I worked or started my shop in town.

 

RPU moved to a new spot in the garage.

 

The other end of my shop, with my nemesis engine on the stand. Fresh engine I bought, that I keep finding something "just not right".

 

If commercial spaces are a faux pas in this thread let me know and I'll delete this. I am very fortunate to have the best office space ever!

'52 Henry J second owner car brought back from 50+yrs in a barn.
'65 fast back a local 1/4 miler it's entire life is getting a 7.3 Godzilla, top loader and V gate

Were those the ones Ryan did a Thread on a couple years ago? Race ready overseas somewhere?

 

Not sure, I don’t remember Ryan’s post. The factory had Dearborn Steel Tubing build 21 drag race Comets in 1964 but they were Caliente’s, the Cyclone was a mid year model. There was also one station wagon built for Don Nicolson. Anyone have a link to Ryan’s post?

 

When you're over 80, ladders become weapons instead of useful tools.

 

My shop has many rooms. Its easier to heat where I work that way.when you enter there is a 20x36 ft show room/entry way that can be closed off soI dont have to heat it. This area has a complimentary disco ball and light show. Next is the main work area. In here I have a 20x24 paint booth, an area for layout, a 2 post lift and my tool room with power hammer, plasma table bead roller and lathe.this area is 48 x 52. Behind door number 2 lays another 36x36 shop that is unheated, where future projects are mocked up and left in waiting.. total area of the entire building is 52x104. I love this shop. Across the lawn from the work shop is my museum, where all of my finished cars are. This is a 30x90 poll barn with a cement floor, small tool box and a 30 gallon compressor, just to keep the cars happy while resting. In an attempt to show my maze I have included various pics. I have lived here for over 20 years, and I add onto the shop about every 3 years. Building it all myself in an effort to keep costs down.

You were right they were Caliente's...here's the link above...despite that you have a really cool special from back in the day, that's for sure...

 

Thanks for the link. Back in ‘64 Mercury was doing quite a bit to promote the newest version of the Comet, drag racing and East African Safari but also the 100,000 mile durability run at Daytona. Mercury was a force back then the factory was backing all kinds of racing efforts.
