MG Lever shocks

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Jimmy2car, Oct 26, 2011.

  1. I used them on my 32 5 window & they worked great.
No problem & they have seen service for many years.

Well I was thinking of using them on my “32 5W as well! Really good to hear you “testify” brother. . So I feel confident and I’ll use them. Thanks!

The arms aren’t designed to come off the shaft. You are supposed to remove the blanking plug and then press the shaft and arm out. The shaft is splined into the crank.

I recently read of an outfit in (iirc) the UK who are making tunable shim-stack valves for these. That should go some way to making up for the tiny fluid displacement.

Someone asked on the original thread why you wouldn't use Delco-Lovejoy dampers as found on large American cars. They're heavy but, if you can live with that, the bigger pistons are not to be sneezed at. If there is enough stroke available to accommodate your suspension travel with a shorter arm, and valving like the aforementioned can be done, they might actually be useful.

The one in my pic is actually the adjustable works version. You can see the knurled cap in the top left of the above pic. The standard ones just have a plug bottom left pic below
