Need to know if this is a major issue if I go to the drag strip... I've read about tanks in the trunk... But can't find any info on inside the car...my 1938 Bantam doesn't have a trunk...I figured there's a box to build or something to make it safe.... Thanks...n hopefully it's feasible..

Yes you need a bulkhead between p***enger compartment and fuel tank. You'll also need a sealed battery box if that in the p***enger compartment. I recently built one for my Henry J because it doesn't have a trunk and I moved the fuel cell inside.
Outside in the rear is where there factory tank was... It's the flashed over area below the black factor paint
Are you saying that you have to have a sealed system....n then having to unscrew a panel or something to get to the tank??
The rear bulkhead should be sealed. If not the tech inspectors may not p*** it. Remember the purpose is to keep fuel and fire out of the drivers compartment in a wreck or roll over. With your Bantam it looks like you need a filler neck to the outside. As mentioned vent to the out side. Roll over valves are good to have too. What are you using as a tank?

Hello, Ever since the popularity of the moon tanks inside of the cab area with seats in hot rods and drag race cars, it was an accident waiting to happen. Sitting in the p***enger seat of our 1940 willys coupe with a Moon tank in front of me was cool, but thinking about it later, stupid. Flammable gas just inches away from anyone inside on the bucket seats… what were we thinking? Well, for one, we used the stock gas tank full of water for extra real wheel weight. So, we needed a new tank anyway. Most of the top race cars in our gas coupe cl***es were using moon tanks, inside. It had a pump attached and it needed to have it close to the driver to put in more pressure for the quarter mile run. 1958-59 Gene Adams Oldsmobile Sedan Gas Coupe record holder. As much as the good looks of the Moon Tank and Pressure Pump inside of the cab area, all racers were told to move them out of the cab in September 1960, due to fire hazards and explosions. Looks like the stock tank was mounted in back like a '32 Ford. With a little thought and design you should be able to make something that doesn't look too bad. With the outside headers, do you have room to make a pair of saddle tanks inside the frame?
I was looking at mine today...I have enough room to enclose it and still keep the factory smugglers box.... And I've a couple of Vega fuel filler tubes, but one that looks like the angle is just about perfect alignment right into my tank.. I still have a long list of STILL NEEDS..... But moving in a good direction the last four weeks... Thanks for sharing the tank info!!

Nomex up , fire bottle . Main thing good fittings If using hose , GOOD hose Make sure to vent good out side of P***enger compartment.
