History Traditional custom scoops thread. Roof, sides, hood, all the scoops.

Taboo had these added in the 90s, we cut them off during the restoration. Did a 59 Impala "scoop" piece of trim.

 

Side pitchfork made into a scoop.

 

I need to buy a copy of that book one of these days.

 

You did a fantastic job.

 

Did you find the original steering wheel to it or did you have to fabricate a new one?

 

A shortened/sectioned 54 Merc scoop for my 51 ford coupe felt just right as a traditional modification, but I have never seen another on a shoebox before I did it on mine.

 

The hood narrows towards the front. So does the scoop, but the angle is different. It really suits the vehicle.

It looks good. I had a 53 merc for a little while and it had the scoop modified also. Should have kept that car. Traded it for a 36 ford pickup.

Is There anymore pictures on this Studebaker? Have a 55 Commander that will be a halfwild custom in the future. Those scoops look like a cool start.

This T bird scoop is pretty cool.

 

I actually bought 3 of those books in the series after seeing your post. They have some cool pictures in them. I wish he had done some books on the 60s stuff also.

 

Pretty sure he did unless I’m thinking of Andy Southard. My dad’s got it. This is the ‘50s one.
