...after I put a dab of never seize on the steel spark plug threads when I installed them in aluminum heads this afternoon.

My late wife could eat BBQ chicken without needing a single napkin. Me, waiter I need more napkins. Haha! Was staining some wood last night, bumped the table the can of stain was sitting on and stain all over the garage floor, my track pants, and my shoes. Yep, I know what’s it like…

I ordered copper gasket spray. They shipped spray anti-seize instead. They sent what I wanted and I get to keep the spray anti-seize. I have not figured out what I could possibly want to spray anti-seize on. I get it all over me, the work and the tools just squeezing it out of a 40 year old tube.

Well, that bent brush on the cap makes it impossible to get less than 50X what you'd like. I cut that thing off and use a dedicated glue brush.

I worked with a former airframe mechanic when I was about 20 and he was close to retirement. We could work on ***embling a machine one of us on either end. I’d look like I had rolled in the stuff, but George might get a little smudge on one fingertip. That picture of young fugly over there was taken right after I had showered and got dressed. By the time it was on the trailer 15 minutes later, I had dirt, grease Never seize, and any other glop that was within 20 feet of me, all over me.

Oh, and you know those metal cans it used to come in? And how the components would separate out from each other and need to be stirred back in before you could use it? Well, another one of the old timers showed me how to stir it up with an Allen wrench chucked in a drill press, kind of like a blender.

It works really well, except for when you hit the side of the can with the end of the wrench. It then rips the can apart and out of your hand, and you think just using it normally makes a big mess…

Anti-sieze has the amazing ability to multiply hundreds of times once exposed to air.

Your Anti- Seize post just brought up a past memory of getting stuff all over you.

Many Years ago I had a large tube of Crazy Glue ( not the small tubes today ) . I put it in my back pocket and you guessed it, I sat down in my old sedan with a tweed interior and it blew the cap off and crazy glue all over the seat and my shorts. I didn’t notice or feel it and it set up real good.

Glued my shorts to the tweed seat bottom, and had to ripped the tweed material off the seat and ruined my shorts as well.

    $500.00 re- do - seat.

I was working on my OT truck years ago, with my 3 year old son playing in the driveway. I had to go to the bathroom, so told him “Whatever you do stay away from that silver bottle!”
Came out 2 minutes later to him covered in it. All over the front of his coat, and silver up to his wrists. Yup, threw the coat in the garbage and scrubbed his hands with Dawn detergent.
Don’t ever tell a 3 year old what NOT to touch.

I have kept a diary of dumb things that I have done. The Anti-Seize episode is in Volume two, chapter three, right after the story of the shop rag ****ed into the blower.

Will you change from "ATCH" to "Silver Bullet"?

    ***Repeat story warning***
I'll get to the relevance to this thread shortly.
Worked with a cranky old guy that thought everything that was done around the shop that had some negative affect was directed at him.
The big one was when the bay doors had to be opened (manuel chain) to let fork lifts into the machine shop, before they got done he would close the door, was a real big deal for him, especially during the winter months.
It had happened more than once to this one fork lift driver so he got a ladder and climbed up and attached a (borrowed) padlock to the chain mechanism, after some heated back and forth the old guy climbed the ladder and cut the lock off with boltcutters, t
hought that was the end to it.
Happened again so (someone) felt the need to get even..........
Did I mention the Prussian Blue:eek: transfer paste.
Us machinists used it on parts that needed an accurate fit on mating parts, usually tapers, it did not take much either, seems no matter how careful you were you would usually get some on you somewhere.
    So.......
One day the old guy sat down for lunch where he always sat next to the window, (someone) had opened the window and smeared a glob of Prussian Blue on the handle, unbeknownst to the old guy and after a couple bites of his sandwich and a swig of Coke realized his sandwich and Coke bottle were EXTREMELY blue, he yells out what kind of an SOB would blue a mans sandwich, well, no one fessed up but most of the guys surmised who it was.
Never had a problem with the door after that!

Make sure your aerosol can of shaving cream is laying down before you put your foot on top of your footlocker to lace your boot.

  20. At least if you make a mess of it, you can always get the dog to lick it up. If it's like my dog, he would eat ANYTHING and survive !

Drove over a full can of copper grease the other week. Does that count? I could repeat what I said when I realized it but maybe I won't...

I learned about aluminum heads and antifreeze when I broke a spark plug trying to remove it, then of course a piece fell in the cylinder.

I'm shocked they still make the stuff! How can you sell a product that in 1 small sale, each customer gets a lifetime supply? Been working on the same bottle since the late 80's! Hell, I'll probably will it to my heirs, and it's not like I never use the stuff, I do.

My auto shop teacher once said, "Careful with that-you can paint your house with a thimble full".

Only reason I recently bought a new can of the stuff is because I left it open on my bench. Yes, you guessed it, I grabbed the grinder soon after, and it now is always seize, so full of grit. But was I smart enough to toss it out? Heck no, it’s still sitting on the bench with the cap off…

I figure that it will catch all of the grit sparing the new can. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it!

I actually use the copper version, and used so much of it the brush barely touches what’s left, but it’s almost caked to a solid. I should just go out and toss it and get a new one, but just can’t knowing there’s still a bit left. Lol!

    TRUE STORY
As a teenager I was over at my buddy's tire shop, run by his father. I was building my first roadster.
His dad said, "Be sure to use Anti-Seize".
    "What's that?" I asked.
He explained and gave me a half-empty can and said, "Here. here's a lifetime supply."

    That was sixty years ago!
Still using that stuff from the same can.

R.I.P. Harry Kolsom. Every time I use a dab of that stuff I think of you and thank you.

 I somehow have 3 90% full bottles of the stuff on my tool box. If I ever have kids, my great great grandchildren will be set!

I'm a old joker, anti seize under door handles was a good one, and when returned I laughed just as much as at the ones I got.
