IVE GOT A 64 CADDILAC 429 AND A CHEVY TH400 OUT OF AN RV,WILL THIS THING BOLT RIGHT TOGETHER OR DO I NEED SOME ADAPTERS?!!!
i got some 429 ******s.... 3 to be exact... but i need a good 429... how about you give me the 429 you have and ill give you a good small block chevy.
what if i stick with the stock ****** that came with the motor, will it hold up and can i get a shorter tail stock,or what if i use the original tailstock and a shorter driveshaft?
Sell the chevy TH400 and bolt up a mid sixties caddy TH400 they are usually switch pitch Th400's aswell
so the internals are just like the chevy?what about the tailstock, can i swap it with the shorter chev?
i abused the **** out of my trany in my caddy doing donuts and burnouts and well just ran the **** out of that car.... the flamethrowers are what finally did the motor in....
what do you think about the 429?i just got this thing and im tearing it down just to paint it up a bit.apparently it was a running motor but i was wondering what kind of faults they had ,if any? AND WHAT KIND OF MODS CAN I POSIBBLE DO TO IT(CARB,INTAKE,IGNITION,.......)?
You guys should talk to a guy named BISHOP on here. He has a Cadillac 429 (running) and TH400 for it. One of you gets the motor, one gets the ****** if you go halfsies on it. ~Jason
I plugged off the heatriser in my intake then put on an adapter plate and a 625 Street Demon.. Switched from points to a pertronix kit... Some say points are just as good as long as your not revving the hell out of it.. But with a 429 there's no reason to rev it too high... And the only intake I have found are the ones on lakeheaders.com. Was told today that the earlier caddy intakes may have the same port position what not of our 429's... Just gotta get an older intake and take some measurements....
