MOH or VC recipients should never be asked to go back to combat... Most ,if still able,would voluntarily remain with their unit and do that. History I have read.

 

The rode is at the north end of the Camp. It leads to the north base gate, a camp ground, the San Onofre generating station (closed), and San Onofre surf beach, and Trestles surf spot.

There's also a statue of him in Lil Italy in San Diego. My wife and I happened to be there when they were having a celebration for him .Not my pic. My dad was also on Guadac**** with him.

 

He asked to back. From what I remember dad telling me (dad was a marine and I was born at Pendelton) after he was asked to sell war bonds he felt guilty not being with his fellow Marines.
