On a completely different level, and I say this to @Ryan @Jeff Norwell , @Stogy , The artwork and illustrations of the Italian artist, Walter Molino, in my humble opinion, this guy knew no limits, my avatar is by him. He was known as the master of disaster!

Pete Beard on YouTube, does a good job of explaining this renegade artist, who knew how to push the limits of what was alleged good taste, he pulled no punches!

It's funny the connection of disaster to Molino's work and Hotrod Artists depicting disaster many times. I mean the whole world is full of disaster and so much media lived and breathed it with people relating to it...and yet both went in more p***ive directions as well...as there were other things to satisfy desires too...

Dennis, he was a giant in illustration without a doubt...there are so many...the car illustrators and designers were also Artists too...targeted in profession in great ways but given the freedom of a home studio I'm sure many were truly incredible as freestyle artists covering many subjects from Hotrod to landscape and all in between...

 

As an Artist of sorts I have great admiration for Jeff and many others here who truly went through a Post Secondary Education in Art and Commercial Art nurturing a gift not all are blessed with. I don't think these type of Artists will disappear but in this modern day the new Artistic guard will likely be different.

So any time I see something the like of what has been shared in this Thread I truly feel these Artists were right up there with the best of the best...I do however find it interesting that it was a team effort in the Automotive Art Studio with multiple people involved in each facet of creation of these masterpieces that got the juices flowing...

 

Even Revell drank the Kool-Aid, their box illustrations showed ‘50’s cars as longer, lower and sleeker. Is truth in advertising any better today?

Yes, I did a search for Bernie Fuchs and WOW! A**** many others, I found an Indy 500 commemorative print he did that's cool enough to even consider spending money on....

I had no idea the actual art was still around or even made on that scale.......beautiful. I've just collected the poor mans versions (magazine ads and brochures).

 

I want to build this one.

 

A couple things I note looking at this that reminds me of AI even though it isn't...or the very least perspective and notable details...

It's a very cool work regardless of my observations. The helmet certainly doesn't look American on the driver...and the jeep has notably s****ed off part of the Big Victory "V" but the other side looks embedded into the Jeep.

I did look this Ad up and it is likely an original...and perspective can be a challenge new or old. Maybe it's spot on and it's just me...

 

The US did have a British style/WW1 helmet in the early involvement of the US in WW2. The helmet we ***ociate with WW2 US forces was adopted around 41 and began widespread use by 42.
This ad should be eary 42.
The jeep appears to have the eary style grill
That liquid cooled machine gun was phased out in the 60s
