i just wanna stay within the spirit of the thread. i've learned there's always some point of contention and a bunch of gray area eventually but i wonder if the idea is post-65 (longer wheelbase, laced front wheels, small blowers, disc brakes) but less so off the rails (volks rod, rear engine, street legal altereds). much of the 80s forward cars basically ape the early 70s.
i'm note sure what car this is but i really dig the engine's look. man i wish i could still buy a clear distributor cap for my windsor!
@Snicklefritz65 Post away! You only know the limits if you drop a wheel in the gr*** now and then! I went back and looked thru some of the pages last night, wondering if there had been high curbs. There have been Volksrods, a 9 second full cage drag car, A V12 engine T, Lots of wheelie bars, blowers, and other OT stuff. I didn't see any modern hemis or LSs but didn't look thru all the pages. Not how I'd build one, but here you go. Might have something to incorporate in yours.
that's nuts! it's so ridiculous that i like it... but like you it's not something i would do. technically, an ls would be a no-no but twin turbos have been used in drag cars since at least the early-mid 60s.
i was never a baseball fan but reggie owned a lot of cool cars that showed up in the magazines when i was a kid. accel ignition parts adverts too.

Seems it's getting harder to find recent pics of newer-style buckets, there must be a ton of 'em sitting in garages, covered up with stuff? Ran across this C-Cab style rig last year at a show in Iowa. I thought it was a home-built body but the sign in the windshield said it was a "1923 Chevy Sedan Delivery". So maybe it's O/T for this thread since it's not a "T"??

Yep, they do look cool. Guessing they had motorcycle style baffles in 'em? Not too many folks that I know of ran open headers back then.
Really like the stance and proportions on this one. Plenty of at***ude but still cl***y and not "cartoonish".
could be bike mufflers. i toy with the idea of making headers like this for my project and looked into mufflers small enough.
i'm with ya there. just looks right and sets a good example on why that stuff matters. cartoonish can be ok too but just not for me.
this car, pete chapouris' t, donated its 302 for the 'california kid' and later got a wheelbase stretch and a hemi.

Here's another from the same Facebook page where the black one above was found. Doesn't say when it was taken but looks like the 70s? Glen.
Twin 4160 Holleys, a 6/71, looks like 50 series rear tires, Br*** radiator, Front tie rod typical (but not exclusive to) Total Performance, custom one-off exhaust. Without recognizing the car or owner, I'd guess mid 70s or newer. The near vertical column is an earlier thing, but held on. 18 inch wires with no brakes was also pretty much later. 15s or 16s might have made it earlier. Looks like that front axle is the deep drop. MAS racing IIRC, which closed in 2009.
