I couldn't find any cool valve covers for my 472, so I decided to make some. I just finished the welding on the first one, 5 fins on the original cover, about 2 hours total time. I had more pics as I went, but my wife took the camera with her today, so all I have is the camera phone picture , I will clean it up tonight and maybe throw some paint on it this weekend. The other side will take a little longer to do because of the oil fill cap.
This could be done with any valve cover, I know that there are more guys like me here who would rather spend 2 days making something to save $50, the pictures are pretty much self explanatory
Good tech stuff....cool !,for big block caddy...cool !,and you drive a bus with flames on it...smashin!!
this might be a dumb q but what did you use to smooth out the welds in between the fins?? by the way those look great... ive been tryin to figure out what to do with my covers.. thanks harmon
I welded all the fins from the inside of the cover, so there was very little grinding on the outside. Just had to use the zip cut on the grinder to get any little spots between the fins.
looks real good. i might just do that to my 472 covers as well. any pics of the other cover? curious to see what it looks like with the oil passage.
