    Back in the 1980's I knew someone who owned the last Desoto sold by a local Plymouth-Desoto dealer. It was a black four door, and I can remember the ribbed trunk lid, that grille, and how big it was. It was well-worn and a bit rusty, probably about the same condition as this one, but he did drive it on occasion.

    That El kabong is pretty cool, in a funky sort of way. Is that big C clamp included?

    "@sweet****2 is looking for a chopped stude could this be it?"
    & "He is looking for a particular car. I don’t know if this is it or not, maybe he will chime in?".

    No. it's not.

    I ran into the owner this yr @ the Michiana Stude club June S.B. swapmeet. Got his # & a pic of the car(from owners' posted pic). PM'd info to sd2. Owner was asking ~100k(has too many cars, doesn't *have* to sell, but would like less to maintain. Also has a cool psycho-paint Avanti avail.). We discussed the car(he was surprised I knew it) - still in decent shape, essentially unaltered from its' last show-look(s) & condition, although the chromed Stude Camp6 is gone(saved n used by another Stude guy), swapped out by original builder, iirc. He had history of car from original build, guys' dad got car from original builder. One of my favorites, but I'm not going to own it.

    Sd2 can chime-in w/info he found out from current owner, if he wants.
    I didn't post info here, in case sd2 wants to bargain on it 1st. Didn't sound like he was going to, but I 'm not steppin' on toes that fast. I do hope he can pull off ownership.
    Fwiw.

    Hey, Moriarity;
    Yes, on my cell. Don't do well posting pics here. I'll text it to you, iffen you wish. PM or text me the ph# if that's ok. There was just 1 small pic tacked up on a his small bulletin board, along w/some other things, as he was vending at the meet.

    This is what I PM'd sd2:

    "
    Hey, sd2;

    I ran into the current owner of Jim Lynch's chopped custom '53 Stude hrdtp, at the June Stude meet in South Bend.

    Guys' name is Dan, ph# 260/615-6252 . It was his dads' car, p***ed on to him by his dad, purchased by his dad from Jim Lynch. He can tell you the story. The chromed Champ6 is gone, currently in a postwar stude, being used apparently. I don't remember if he knows current owner of the chromed6. Iirc, car has a mild 259 in it. Don't quote me, as I didn't talk long, did mention you & HAMB board. Again, he can fill you in.
    The pic he had up, was when it was pearl(?) white w/the chromed6 at a car show, it is, of course, now blk cherry, as it has been for a long time. Asking is $100,000, negotiable. He's not dying to sell quickly, but has too many studes now, so some can go.

    If you text me your ph#, I'll send the pic of his add. If not, all the info you need is in this email.

    This car is a long-time favorite of mine, but me owning it won't happen. Good luck w/the purchase.

    Dan was willing to chat, forthcoming w/any info I asked, not evasive at all, but I didn't have much time to talk then. Later, after I had gone thru the meet, he wasn't there.
    I haven't bothered him, since I'm not going to buy it(those ducks aren't lined up - yet. I'll probably do so soon, maybe I can get SDC mag to feature it. We'll see... Idk...
