341, 390 hp 350 or 383 ..... Curious if you like, or opinion on the cam specs that their engines come with? Or if you'd rather it had a different cam , different specs.... .
It will probably be helpful to know what you're installing the engine in, and what you expect to get out of it. Also things like rear axle ratio, transmission type and stall speed if an automatic.
1965 327 blueprinted to 375 HP fuel injected specs. Built by top level builder in Calif. Put in '65 Nova SS. sometimes "stock" is best
Depends on what your doing with the vehicle , its weight , transmission , gears and such . I suspect there trying to cover a lot of bases with the cams they install and more aimed at low to mid range torque than high RPM HP . I know a guy who has a Blueprint SBC and a really Big BBC and they both have been good engines so far .
We have purchased and install several of the Blueprint small block crate engines, most all carb to pan. They all have performed beyond our perceived expectations. We have used the 355-390HP (dyno showed 415), several 383's 436HP (Dyno 460+), the 396 530HP which is a downright animal. They are an excellent package, very streetable combinations, although we install higher stall torque converters (2400-2800 RPM) behind them as most have been installed in 1955-1980 cars and trucks. The proven Dyno results and the 30 month/50,000 mile warranty make them a no-brainer.

Yeah, he kind of skipped right over that one, my 67 Nova has a 327/350hp, it should get me in plenty of trouble. Now if you want to talk about real trouble my roadster has an all aluminum 427 small block.

I have bought several…liked them both. Currently running their 383 425HP…plenty of grunt and sounds great.
Pay attention to parts used & preparations in ***embly No brainer for a street Rod But weekend / Race & spinning to 6k plus R's different build Then a stock & stock mild modify engine. Just a reference $50 bearing vs $200 Crank $500 vs 1,500 Piston $600 vs 1,200 Lifters $500 vs 1,400 Valves $300 vs 1,000 Heads $700 pair vs 800 each
Cam just depends on other factors , Like Clay Mart mentioned Specs of Vehicle needed. I would say if you change from what sold / shipped with Warranty Void . My 2 scent was DD SteetRod engine they seem to have good rep @AHotRod seems to have used afew ,
I'm 150 miles from the Blueprint shop. Several of their motors in the area. As far as I know no problems? I still have my local machine shop build my engines. If I have a problem he's close to help. Something to be said about supporting local businesses.
Yep, I have the same in my '32, and agree on both counts... Chose the BP crate 383 as the remains of the '67 283 truck motor that initially came with 'project' was clearly beyond saving.
I, also am just down the interstate from them. I have been through their facility 2 times and it is state of the art. There are several You Tube videos of people getting tours. I highly recommend watching them.
This just came into my shop with a bad vibration on a new Blueprint engine. Blueprint SFI flex plate….. on a new Blueprint SBC 350. Not the first Blueprint Engine headache I’ve dealt with. So, yeah. No.
I had the 430 hp 383 in my Model A coupe and I certainly had no complaints. It had a great hot rod idle. It would really put you back in the seat and bark the tires on the shifts with ease. Definitely fun to drive. The dyno sheet showed 458 hp with their Holley. It was in the coupe when I got it from the previous owner, low miles and it came with all of the paperwork. By the time I got it he had installed a polished Demon carb on an Edelbrock endurashine intake - ugh. It ran great but I sold the car to a friend who has done more tuning than I did. He loves it. I’d buy one again in a heartbeat.
The question is how have they dealt with the problems? Every business has a bad day or a bad part (usually from an external supplier like that flexplate) I'm sure I don't need to tell you as a business owner that how you handle these problems defines you. So yea more details needed here, especially when all the other feedback has been pretty glowing.
I agree. The company doesn't make their own flexplates, if it was even included with the engine. A bad part slips through sometimes but it's more commonly installer error on something like that. How they dealt with it is how to judge.
Look at the pictures and you can clearly see the Blueprint logo on the Blueprint supplied and installed flex plate. Engine came from them ***embled and ready to install. Blueprint warrantied the flex plate, but not the labor. Until you are on the receiving end, nobody cares about glowing reviews. I’m just telling you what happened in this particular instance.
You are wrong. It came with the flex plate and it’s the correct flex plate for a one piece seal small block Chevy.
Exactly, they warrantied the part that will be sourced from probably an offshore supplier spec'd to come with their brand marked on it. I would say that's fair for what they are obliged to do in that situation.
Its a 50/50 on all most all these company selling these combo . $30 flex vs $200 $400 piston vs $1,400 Speed master Head vs Brodix /Dart & so On . Speedmaster heads seat's falling out , valve breaking ,guilds wearing out Quick. Most are looking @ price Not components used in build
Any part could have a defect. @badshifter ,besides the flex plate, were there any issues with the engine?
@badshifter sorry to hear that. When I worked in shops, warranted parts mostly did not include labor, which did stink. On bigger stuff like a flexplate, the parts store rep would go and fight for at least some if not all labor. I can completely understand the sour taste, especially when it's a full built rod, not a transportation unit. Looks to be a weight that broke loose from spot welds. Not thrilled with the crust underneath either. Did this damage anything else, banging around?
