Hello, That is one nice roadster from the time capsule. If one looks into more detail, it even has custom Scavenger pipes that were popular in the early to mid 60s until too many of them got s****ed. They also lowered the lowest point of the hot rod so low, that going in and out of the local drive-in restaurant parking lots was a steep angle crawl. Even then, it was still a s****e or two. Soon, the pipes were jammed up higher and by then, lost their appeal. But, this roadster has those two chrome pipes acting as regular exhaust pipes for the straight through exit. Plus, it gives the look of the old Scavenger pipes. Jnaki So, for the authentic build parts and accessories, it has hit the style points quite well. Even the red rubber gas lines were the popular installation... YRMV
Man that’s *****in, I think the rear wheels are a touch forward. Looks like the radius of the tire may match the radius of the front off the wheel opening compared to having it centered. Could be intentional. Could have been a previous version. but what a time capsule. I’d have a real mental battle thinking about changing anything other than the oil and those dry rotted fuel lines.
I think the rear centerline ended up where it is after they had the engine and radiator set they set the body where it fit and that was that.
I think I saw this one for sale. If I remember right, there was a huge pile of petrified rac**** turds sitting on the driver's seat base (the pic above looks cropped to hide it). Neat car and I hope it gets into the right hands, but I thought it was in poor taste for the owner to leave that laying there.
I sure hope someone here picks it up. I always fear someone gets ahold of a survivor like this and ruins it.
It does appear to be very untouched, even those tires look the same as the ones in that period photo. That's pretty cool. @chlsnk mirrors my thoughts, I really hope someone gets this who appreciates it and doesn't change it all around for the sake of change.
I seen the add for it over the weekend, it was calling my name, so we struck a deal and its now at its new home in Minnesota, i think we may have found the original builder, hopefully ill get in touch with him today!
Congrats, @***us !!! I hope you can enjoy it as close as possible to it's historic build. I wonder about these Cl***ifieds that @J.Ukrop posts. Was the deal already done or was it a case where it was in process then suddenly it's front page of the HAMB? Could be a nailbiter!
That's fantastic @***us , and extra cool that it still has the top, I didn't know that from the for sale ad. Now it really looks like nothing has been changed on it, I wouldn't doubt that's the same air in the tires when that picture was taken. Looks like a very well built car for it's day too, thought-out and properly finished. Definitely update if you get to talk to the original builder, that's a huge extra bonus and would be good to do***ent that somewhere.
