Thanks, T. Turtle. I just got some good news from my transmission guy (who's bailing me out from my screwups in building the AOD). He's had the trans for about a month and said he'll have it all together early next week. Mismatched parts was my cardinal sin, apparently. He said the hardened main shaft, A+ servo, two-inch band and shift kit that I put in were all correct and remain. Re-installation, adjusting the TV cable and then finishing up exhaust, roof, door and back window installation and some loose ends, then onto the legal ***le, inspection and licensing process and finally a bed. Farm rodding, but not to the quality of Freiburger or the usual H.A.M.B. builders' quality.

 

The Viet Cong wore them in Vietnam when I was there and we called them Ho Chi Minh Sandles. Made from rubber tread off a tire

Well, nuts. Was hoping you n that Stude(w/the hot hemi... ) would make it to the Stude Nats this yr(sept) in Waxahachie TX. Will be in an entirely new mall, w/*everything* in air-conditioning. Outta be a hoot...

Maybe next yr in South Bend IN, for another every-5yrs-"Homecoming" Nationals event?

Ah the dreaded TV cable. Luckily you have a Ford AOD magician in your area. Me I'm just wrestling with the triviality of short 289 fuel pump eccentric dowel pins lol. Am working in a converted pigsty so it's farm rodding too I suppose.

 

Yes, which is probably most relevant to the majority here.

In addition he spent time at the helm of Roadkill magazine, Car Craft, Overkill, and probably others. My post was not meant as an exhaustive list. His contributions to contemporary car culture have been significant, whether people have heard of him, like him, or not.

Looking forward to seeing this progress. DF is always entertaining. Especially when the plan fails and he has to wing it.

 

One thing about DF that I respect is the fact he does in fact know his stuff. Sure, he might rub some people the wrong way but at least he’s not an overbearing jerk. One question, anyone know if he still has that O/T pony car he and Finnegan built on Roadkill?

 

If you're talking about the Mustang he called Disgustang, he sold it several years ago.

 

Ya know, in almost every one of our chosen clans we hang with there's "that guy" who's really intelligent, has skills, but that odd sense of what's kool. He'd get chubbed up over a SBC in a Triumph Spitfire. Fries is one of them. Amirite?

 

I last worked 17 years ago, but bought a pair of composite toe work shoes last week.

I’m not comfortable working in running shoes, let alone sandles.

Besides that, my feet get filthy wearing sandles and it’s hard to bend over to scrub them.

 

Very cool video. Going to be fun to see this come together.

Gotta give him credit, he likes what he likes and he's building as such.

Not sure how far he's going to "finish" this car. I suspect just enough to drive and enjoy. Something to be said about building a driver rather than a show piece. More my speed.

Man, that sounds like a good thing (Texas), but I'm not seeing it. And I've been to a SDC Nats in South Bend (Awesome Stude event), and maybe I could attend, but my car is so far on the back burner now I can barely feel the heat. I appreciate the interest, but I can't tell you how long I'll be before that thing thunders again. I do have the itch though.

 

You could always trailer it, "this project is getting *another*(2nd/3rd -whatever) (re)build"... .

David Freiburger is building a hot rod

 

I enjoy Freiburger's Youtube videos and his old Roadkill Garage episodes. He resonates more with this low-budget builder than any of the big-shop, big-budget personalities.

 

Yep. The reason I appreciate his content is because he doesn't try to be anything he's not. He's kind of just a normal car guy.

 

Any idea of when the next installment might be available?

He's working on it occasionally at Sam's house, which is a few hours drive from Freiburger's home. Freiburger posts new videos every Thursday afternoon to his YouTube channel so you can watch for them there, but he indicated earlier in this thread that progress will be discontinuous.

 

Just an FYI . . . It's nearly a 325-mile drive from David's house to Sam's . . . so it will take David four to five hours IF he doesn't run into any bad traffic.

... and yes, I'm trolling @Freiburger to state (here on a public forum) that he makes the trip in just three hours and 25 mintutes

Im more interested in the build than his foot wear , how far he drives or all the stuff not really related becuase he is on TV or Utube.

If it meets all the goals he set with a 327 topped by a tunnel ran backred by a 200r4 id be impressed if its running 80 mph dowm thr highway much

 

Might be just me, but I find it real hard to trust a man that shaves his legs.........
