Technical Feel like rebuilding some Houdaile shock absorbers?

That was interesting reading. It left me with no doubt in my mind why American automobile manufacturers went to disposable tube shock absorbers.

 

just did brakes on my f/head old dodge trk--i can say the same about obsolete practices on them-"-they don't make em like they used to."...thank god!!

 

Wish I had that a couple months ago… each shock on these old Fords are a work of art in my opinion and worth saving if you have the time and tools. I’m lucky in that none of mine leaked and the valving was working exactly as it should so I just did a fluid change and am putting them back in service

 

Uh . . . Damn! Intimidating procedure to restore to say the least. Best case scenario is to have four Houdailles that work like Deke's '37 and go from there.

 

There's more engineering in that corner bouncy controller thingy than the entire engine, trans and rear end combined!

 

Intimidating information! I see a tube shock conversion in my future.

 

To answer the ***le of this thread after glancing over all of that: No. No I don't.

 

Not doable if you don’t have those tools.
