Can anyone identify who built this Tudor?

It's a long shot, but I recently bought a beautiful 29 Porsche Red Ford Tudor. It appears to have been professionally built or at least built by someone with a lot of skill. Based on the VIN, it was made/registered in California in 1983. I'm trying to find some history on the car. I have sent a VIN history request the California DMV. Any suggestion on other ways to search for it's history?

 

The picture I posted appears to have been taken when the build was relatively fresh.

 

Did McGoo do any sedans?

It would be kismet if the photo was taken in Pleasanton. I just sold a 66 Impala to a gentlemen from Pleasanton.

From another Oregonian, Welcome to the HAMB. I went to Pleasanton a few times in the 80's. That looks like a car I would have stopped to look at. Maybe something Paul Bragg would do. Don't know what California DMV will tell you but I know firsthand that Oregon won't include any names in a ***le search.

 

I had a friend that p***ed in a few years ago. His name was Rodger L. Klemme in Davenport, Ia. He had some Polaroid pics of the cars he built and sold hanging in his garage. One looked a lot like the pic you posted. He sold it long before I meet him. He said he never should have sold it. Just saying. He was a great guy.

 

Dang that's awesome. I'd love to see pics of the car today, if you got em!! That's got a seriously great look.

You won't get anywhere with that, is my guess.

Guys who were there, then, are the most likely source of info.

Thank you so much for your input. So far my research is leaning toward a TCI frame/torsion bar suspension with chromed Jaguar calipers. (Update: TCI says it isn't theirs)

 

Those look like Borranni wires to me. Not sure if that’s the correct spelling, but those were the ticket in the 80’s. Very expensive. Nice, nice Model A. Is it still in original build condition?

 

As near as I can tell, they are Truespoke 45 spoke wheels

 

The car is very close to original build on the outside at least.

Yeah, the better side view confirms the wheels aren’t Borranni. Looks like a well done car. Hard to beat a 28-29 Tudor. Being unchopped, or very little if any, it’s definitely not the Danny Brent car out of the San Diego area, or the Roy Richter car from Washington, which were both very similar, but both chopped. Do you have the hood?

 

I do have the hood and I generally have the top portion installed. My personal preference is to not have the sides installed..

Very close, but suspension is totally different and I doubt they would have changed it. Mine has a torsion bar IFS (Toyota based?) and a Ford 8"

 

Jag IFS was torsion bar suspended.
