  13. Please tell us more about the engine. This is the nicest '34 Plymouth I've ever seen and I've seen a handful of good ones. Lots of nice period touches tell you when it was built.

That would have been after racing at Detroit Dragway which had just opened. DD hosted the National in 59 and 60 before moving to Indianapolis. Watched the High and Mighty run several time at DD what a loud and unique sound with megaphone headers.

They both seem to stand out. It's got belly burners and effie rear fenders? I don't recognize them.

Story about the engine is that Bill bought an old army truck to get the flathead Mercury engine, took the engine out and then sold the truck minus engine for the same amount he paid for it. I'm not sure where he got the Allard Heads and manifold from but presume that they would have come off an Allard that came into New Zealand probably as a race car. All the trinkets on the engine and in fact all the other bits of the car were made by Bill himself including the steering wheel upholstery etc. The ch***is is shorted 7 1/2" 36 Ford and body is channeled 7" the body had no trunk or doors when he got it, he made the doors out of 4 sedan doors. fullsizeoutput_5d.jpeg fullsizeoutput_5f.jpeg fullsizeoutput_5e.jpeg

  29. Thanks a whole lot! That's the kind of detail we love. Just a treat looking at that era-reminiscent interior. Mushrooms involved in the design?
