I have a '52 F1 and many questions. Here are two: 1) The driver's door has two small holes on the outside below vent window. They have been filled. I have yet to see a sideview mirror on an F1 that mounts to the door. All I've seen are hinge mount and ones that clip to the edge of the door frame. Any idea? pics? Also on the outside of driver's door is a metal plug that's about 7/8" diameter...plugs a 3/4" hole? It is painted in at this point. What might it have been for? 2) I have one horn under the hood. Trumpet style that matches the literature I've seen. Is there a reproduction made in the same style? To find another one is the best bet to go to an old junkyard? Pic is not mine - it's from a previous thread. Way prettier than the horn I have. Thanks: William
Holes might be from one of those large truck mirrors with support braces. I know nothing about the horn. Place a want add here on the HAMB and you'll most likely find one, or rebuild the one you have. Good luck!
Trying to figure out why people drilled holes in old trucks, is a fun guessing game, but in the end it's a waste of time. Shopping for horns...junkyards mostly don't have trucks that old any more. HAMB cl***ifieds, swap meets, ebay, friends who play with old trucks, etc are the typical sources for parts like that.
