A great book for sure, but sadly out of print. I thought that I had that one on the shelf but I guess I'm adding it to the keep-a-look-out list. That's a hell of a cruise circuit! I can't imagine trying to do that today, so I'll definitely have to try it out.
Great stuff, Curt! Such heady times in the early car culture days. Sometimes I wish we had a time machine. All we have are the books and magazines from those early days.

Hello, We all saw those cars in the local car shows from back in those early days. But, in the description, we made the same cruise from one place to another with our hot rods and customs. Thanks, @themoose When we started, we were usually in Bixby Knolls at Grisinger's on Atlantic Ave. It was on the corner of San Antonio and Atlantic. On San Antonio going East, was the short drive to the Cherry Avenue Drags location for late night acceleration runs. Grisinger’s was not on Bellflower and Spring Street. "Grisinger’s at Bellflower and Spring Street in Long Beach, then to Hodies in Bixby Knolls." Also, Hody’s was not in Bixby Knolls. The main Hody’s drive-in restaurant was located South in Long Beach on PCH and Anaheim streets. It was the only place in Long Beach where two East to West, long parallel streets finally came to a crisscross. And, on that corner was Hody’s Drive-In Restaurant. For some notes: In Long Beach, there were places where teenagers hung out, drive-in restaurants were located in the areas where most lived and played. The Long Beach Poly High School kids went to Bixby Knolls Grisinger’s and Ken's Drive-Ins. The Millikan H.S. kids went to Oscar’s Restaurant in their area of the city. The Wilson H.S. teens went to Hody’s Drive In as it was located a few blocks from their high school campus. But all cruisers were cool when going to the other locations. Jnaki From those starting points, then the longer cruises to Harvey’s Broiler in Downey, a 10 mile drive for the Bixby Knolls teens and farther for the other area teens. But, also going South, the best coastal cruise was to go to Merle’s Drive-In in Newport Beach/Corona Del Mar in the South. It was a long drive for most of the local Long Beach teens, but the location was right on the main corner of McArthur and PCH. It was a big drawing card during the Spring Break vacation times. A long cruise, but very fun times…YRMV The big OC area was developing from barren land to packed in business parks and residences as well as the famous Newport Fashion Island shopping center in a few years. I remember this book coming out originally but it just kinda past me by at the time. Funny enough, just recently at a friends they pulled it off the bookshelf to show me something and I was blown away by the quality. Rare and expensive book now, unfortunately.
