Hot Rods Deuce roadster in Indiana Jones movie

If it's any consolation to the buyer at $27,500 it didn't sell for a famous movie car price.

Now for a story that told to me:
It seems there is a builder in the small town of Yucaipa California, he builds hot rods one at a time.
His cars are not AMBR quality, they are just hot rods built from parts from the swap meet and carefully selected new parts, made to be driven.
It seems that he built a nice black A on 32 rails with a Olds motor.
This builder drug the hot rod to the swaps: Model A, Pomona, Long Beach, and he found a buyer.
This buyer worked in Tinsel Town and loved driving his new Hot Rod
And one day, he drove it to a large building where people were standing around waiting for 'Action'.
And one of the persons there went crazy over the this Hot Rod and wanted it for a project.
But this Hot Rod would not be sold and would not take the abuse that would be called for.
So the Makers of Magic made three copies.
And you know the rest of the story.

 

I guess they didn't make very good copies. One of them looked like a 32.

 

Is it just me or is the BJ car a coupster.



The cowl, windshield, and body reveal doesn’t look roadster.

 

And the dash in the California Kid in the movie was not the California Kid dash,,,
And the roll-over 55 in AG was not the hero car
It's Hollywood(land)

The movie was set in 1957, so the small block is plausible.

Movie magic. It says there is do***entation that this is a movie car. There is a simple Hwood rule if you are going to use a vehicle as the focus of a scene you rent or buy 2 of them - more if heavy stunt work is involved. If you have trouble with the hero car (the best one for close ups) you bring in the second car (stunts - far shots - etc) to get the shot. Studios are spending 10s of thousands per minute to film and having someone throw together a second car that is "close enough" is cheap insurance when you have million dollar talent standing around and the primary car has a problem. I wager they saw and liked the 32 to use and bought/rented it. Then had this made as the in case backup. If you go frame by frame with a hi-res copy of the film you may find it was used - I'm betting on some of the off road shots.
BTW: Does anyone know who Indian Jones is?

Celebrity movie car with do***entation, articles from the film, poster, clothing item from cast and crew, DVD of film and more. This car was commissioned and built for Steven Speilberg for the last Indian Jones movie in 2008, The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. It is featured in the opening chase scene with teenagers racing an army staff car to 'Area 51' in the Nevada desert.

 

Pretty long doors for a roadster... I think your correct. Also, on a roadster the bottom door hinge is closer to the rocker panel than the one in the picture. Sure looks like a coupster to me.

 

Switching cars in movies scenes has been happening for over a hundred years. cars are relatively cheap props.

 

The close-up of the trick mirror hubcaps at the 50-second mark are not the ones used in the rest of the scene(s).
They made for a nice shot. though.
